Here is the issue with David Diaz.

He has struggled some with average fighters.

His biggest win was against Morales after the 2 Pacquiao KO's and he barely won that (many think he lost). Morales was clearly shot, worse than he was when he fought Raheem at the same weight.

His belt was handed to him, he never won it in the ring.

But he is a big guy with SOME power, but very good strength. Pacquiao will have a hard time stopping this guy from coming forward. In that measure, it's a good test.

I wouldnt underestimate Diaz and I don't think Pacquiao is either, but after the fight Diaz had with Ramon Montaya or whatever his name is, I have a hard time believing that Diaz is gonna' make this close, but you never know.. I mean Pacquiao is moving up but I still feel confident that he'll win convincingly..

This is one good test for pac's power. David diaz isn't as skillful as jmm but defenitely has more power than JMM.

His body looks so big for a 135lbs!

PAC could win via UD or SD. I dought if pac can knock down David Diaz... but if he can(?!) Wow! Thats a joy to watch!

PAC's body although full of muscle seems dwarfed if standing beside David..

I think WHO ever wins the bout deserves due recognition unless you don't acknowledge the belt which they own. :D

Diaz is a big LW. However, his power is not substantial. He only has 17KO's. He could not hurt Morales either in his weakened state. He wears people out, but he doesn't have much KO power. He may hit harder than JMM, but JMM is a far more precise puncher and a much better boxer so he generates more power by catching you with punches you don't see, much like Floyd Mayweather.

What this fight is good for is showing how Pacquiao handles the strength of a big LW and whether he will be able to hurt one with a decent chin. But believe me, Hatton is another level entirely. And despite his being stopped recently, Hatton does have a better chin than David Diaz.

I agree with the 1st Paragraph.

But I disagree with the Hatton chin better than Diaz. Hatton was Koed. Diaz was TKOed but that was an early stopage by the Ref. Diaz was still punching when the ref stop the fight.

    Here's the Proof:

Perhaps P4P Diaz has the better chin, but as they stand, Hatton has the better chin since he's fought at 147 and faced the hardest puncher ever at 140 without going down.

Based on what I read about David D. regarding his strengths and weaknesses... I have this impression that PAC has a good chance of defeating Diaz via late stoppage or UD.

However, since Pac really never fought yet at 135lbs I will still consider him the underdog for this fight!

Hatton was TKO'd first off, not KO'd.

Secondly, he was TKO'd by Mayweather, by a punch he didn't see coming. David Diaz was TKO'd by Kendall Holt. A guy with 23 wins and 12 KO's who certainly doesn't rate with Mayweather as puncher or fighter.

So even the stats don't add up to the conclusion you have come to. Hatton also has been in the ring with Castillo and Kostya Tsyzu, both of whom are devastating punchers.

You certainly understand the difference in getting stopped by a punch you don't see coming and having a bad chin?

I didn't think you were joking at all.

I think it's funny that a "champion" is that forgettable.

That's true but Hatton was out already when The ref stopped it. Diaz was not dazed at all in that fight.

Tzsu & Castillo were both shot when Hatton Fought them.

Diaz wasn't dazed in that clip? He was fighting back on instinct. He was certainly hurt. And Holt doesn't hit that hard. He staggered him at least 2 times in that last round.

And Kostya Tszyu may have been shot, but he still hit like a ton of bricks. He proved that in the fight before. He certainly hit harder than Kendall Holt.

Hatton also fought Urango, another very big puncher. Hatton has been in with more proven punchers and was finally stopped by a punch he didn't see coming from one of the most accurate counter punchers in the sport.

I don't see you calling Pacquiao's chin weak when he has been stopped 2 times. You say "Oh it was a long time ago" or "he was weight drained", but you don't take into account the circumstances surrounding anyone else's KO's.
