I think at first Roach was trying to make GGG irrelevant, so a Cotto GGG fight would not look that lucrative. Now I believe that if Cotto gets past Geale and Canelo, then GGG is next. I think that's why Cotto wants to give GGG step aside money, so he can wait. Roach is talking up GGG up now since GGG is in Cotto's sights after those two bouts.
:thumbsup Well said!! "Pull a Quillin" and claim tbat GGG is "Not relevant/not a big enough name to be considered" (which seemed to be Freddie's first move). Freddie is far too smart to continue to adopt such an unrealistic stance. And since the spectre of GGG will be there as long as Cotto fights at 160, it is probably why Freddie is now talking up GGG as the p4p number 1.
:good Manny banging his fists together and inviting GGG to "go to war" would be one of the funniest things ever
Pacquiao got rocked by Bradley in their second fight. Golovkin might kill him. Even with a catchweight, Golovkin is naturally MUCH bigger than Pacquiao. Remember, Pac started out at 112.
GGG sends Paquiao in the higher layers of the atmosphere. Seriously, guys. Paquaio has to gorge himself to make 147. GGG is a strong middleweight.
what a bunch of morons, thinking GGG is like wladmimir. The guy is a solid 160 and Pac and GGG can fight at a catch weight of 154. GGG is my second favorite fighter but instead of considering him almost inhuman, like you guys consider him to be, i admit he has flaws. First of all GGG's defense is questionable, he gets hit a lot buit he has a great chin. What does this mean? It means Manny will land a lot and can score more points. The likelyhood of Manny KO'ing GGG is minuscule but he can certainly hit him, a lot. GGG is not fast, sometimes he looks like he's throwing in slow motion. The problem is that he has two freaking sledge hammers, he has god technique and once he lands, he has you on the ropes. Basically there are two ways to beat GGG: 1. Have a freaking sledge hammer of a fist. Given he has questionable defense, a fighter that can catch him with a big punch can KO him. Here's the problem, it has to be a huge puncher given the legendary chin GGG has. Also, it has to be a very heavy puncher who can avoid getting KO'd first..To land that big punch would probably require taking some risks 2. Be extremely quick with feet and hands. This type of fighter can use footwork to stay out of trouble and step in/out to land flurries, but there will be risks Any other type of fighter, IMO, has little chance. If you are a decent fighter with decent speed and power, it's not enough. GGG simply keeps coming and eventually, his blows are too severe.. It has to be someone with either huge power or someone with very very fast feet and hands. Manny is type #2. Stop thinking GGG is some alien, he's human. He hash;t faced a really fast fighter and trust me, he will struggle vs Manny. It would be extremely difficult for GGG to corner Manny and deal heavy blows...
not really, it's opinion but some of the response are moronic, really At least provide something which shows some boxing knowledge. GGG is a great fighter, he has flaws and i provide decent arguments about how Manny's strengths can match up well against GGG's flaws. if someone were to tell me Pacquiao vs Tyson, i'll admit it's ridiculous but GGG is a middle weight and can fight at 154... it's not as crazy as people think. Manny is lightning fast, GGG is somewhat slow..or average. It would be a match of speed vs power.
Manny's trainer wants nothing to do with Manny-vs-GGG... But I guess a H. O. F trainer like Roach knows less than you. But, for the sake of argument (I have a spare 5 mins, which should be sufficient) i'll play. 1. Golovkin is a superior boxer than Manny! Yes, I know, Manny is fast, but being fast does not mean that you are the best (Khan is probably faster than Manny, yet most believe that Manny would ko Amir). GGG's 345-5 amateur record (with decisive wins over many professional world champions) and multiple world championship wins, along with his success as a professional, proves that GGG is a technically superior fighter to Manny. If you are a student of the sport, you will appreciate that one of Golovkin 's strengths is the seemingly effortless way he cuts off the ring. He would have no trouble at all in cornering Manny. And if Manny threw any of those 4-5 punch combos, then he gets ko' d by a counter. 2. Golovkin is quite probably the p4p hardest puncher in boxing... And Manny is no defensive magician like Mayweather. In other words, Manny gets hit by GGG..a man who throws much, much harder shots than the one JMM almost killed Manny with. 3. Golovkin is a much larger human being than Manny. Were they to fight at 154, come fight night Manny would probably weigh 149 at most and Golovkin would weigh somewhere in the region of 165-170 at least. That is a 16-21lb advantage GGG would have. 4. Manny is 3-4 years (at least) past prime, whereas GGG is in his prime. So, we have a much larger, technically superior fighter, who is a merciless finisher and without doubt one the hardest punching fighters today, who is in his prime, fighting a well past prime, much smaller man who has been ko'd on more than one occasion, who's only advantage would be speed (which GGG would easily negate). Why the **** is it moronic to believe that Manny would have no chance of winning this fight??
