at 125. Not Barerra Hamed; still sharp and un-proven pre US hype Hamed. Don't care who wins, just love to see it. Would Naseem land his shots? Could turn-of-the-century Manny cope with the power of the Prince? Would Pacquiao prove to be the first to crack the chin (not the balance) of Naseem Hamed? Dream Fight.
hmmm, i get the feeling hamed is going to be sold short on this thread. he was damn near unstoppable at feather against some very, very good competition. manny was great at feather and his performance against barrera was outstanding. however in a case of physical specimens who relied more on athleticism that technique, i give it to hamed
i am going to get stick for this but a sharp ,hand trouble free hamed could pull this off if he lands big first
I think the featherweight Manny gets sparked rapid by the (Brendan Ingle) Hamed. Wide open flaying attackers were meat & veg for this version of Naz:yep
Before Hamed became a gung ho slugging type,he displayed signs of becoming something special. Pity he was such an arrogant **** of a man.
we dont know how good hamed was cos he never really stepped up to greatness level in his prime. oi think he was too flawed to beat pac but pac during his days at feather was not the polished fighter he was at higher weights Pac tko 6 imo
Back then it was all about getting established in America was'nt it & thats why he went bang bang daft against Kelly in New York, he just binned all the superb ellusive boxing/countering skills to go for power & "landing his bombs" as he would often say. I really don't think that he gets the cred on here that is due & thats got to be down to the fact that he has'nt been studied much. I know Azumah wanted a go at him at the end of Azumah's career but i really can't think of anyone to hand who could have handled him to be honest. Who was around he had'nt sorted out or called out & did'nt want to get in the ring with him. Once he'd binned Brendan Ingle for whatever reason (No doubt Money) along with his shitbag pig ignorant family members thought they could just waltz it. It's a shame that most people on here judge Naz by the Barrera fight when that was most def the case of Barrera shocking all & sundry with his up till then supreme hidden boxing acumen juxtaposed with a Naz who as you wuite rightly said had become an arrogant **** who now relied on ego & showmanship along with employing just one punch & hope tactics. Did he **** Frank Warren off before he went to the states? or was King still involved somewhere?
You ask me, the pre Barrera Hamed is vastly overrated. If he'd have fought Barrera a year earlier he would've retired a year earlier. Same if he'd have fought Morales and a couple others. He was never as good as top A listers.
He damn as well wasnt showing any signs of improvement in the few fights before Barrera. But yeah, any lack of appreciation Naz gets is his own fault im afraid.
