I think another look at this fight is warrented. Hatton's more wide then he is tall, with arms like a T-rex.

My first opinion was Hatton by KO. But after Hatton's fight with Lazcano, and Pac's w/ Diaz, this is a lot closer then some might think. Still, I'm not sure hoe Pac would respond from one of Hatton's body blows to the ribs.

    Heres my opinion.

Pacquiao looked good. Diaz is very slow and plodding, but he is strong. Not as strong as Hatton but strong. Pacquiao couldn't hurt him like he could 130 fighters. It wasn't until Pacquiao caught him with a punch he didn't see coming that he dropped him. Hatton is much quicker and hits harder than Diaz. He is more disciplined and has much better footwork. And he has much better spacing. Pacquiao would have much more to overcome in this match than he did with Diaz.

And guys, Pacquiao's defense HAS gotten better. I have taken note. But Hatton caught Mayweather flush early. If he can hit him, he will catch Pacquiao a few times. It's not only Hatton's chin that needs to be questioned, but Pacquiao's as well when facing Hatton.

We can revisit the fight after Hatton's next fight and Pacquiao's too. If Hatton continues to regress, then it may be a better fight than I originally thought. Lazcano should not have given him such trouble.

I agree with you here. My position isn't that Pac wins, just that it's not looking as much like a "cash out" fight as before. It'll be intersting to see how Hatton handles Paulie this fall, and should tell us more on Pac. vs. Hatton. Hatton getting hurt by L:azcvano really should not have happned. For one, Lazcano's best days are a couple years ago. Two, so was his best weight. JUan's always seemed to me more like a good TV fighter. More gatekeeper to the champs then actual top contender to the champs.

Well wait a second. Do you not agree that Hatton looked worse against Lazcano than he had looked in recent fights? Most people here felt he had, and that independent of anyone discussing a fight with Pacquiao. And a few Pacquiao fans have pointed out how hard it is to come back from a KO, and that would give Pacquiao an advantage. Is that not essentially saying that Hatton would not be the same fighter after the Mayweather fight?

You have to look at fights independently of any forthcoming discussions. You can't look at them looking for excuses or reasoning to prove your point in a later discussion. You are bound to find those excuses if you want to bad enough. Hatton looked average against Lazcano, relative to how he looked vs other 140lb fighters. That is mutually exclusive of any fights he may or may not have. That's just judging his last performance.

Hatton could win this fight. Hatton is good at 140lbs.

I've said this on another thread before. If Pac fights Hatton this year, he is gonna lose bad. But if he fights Hatton next year then he may have a chance. But that is ONLY after testing himself against the best 135lbers out there successfully.
