There's no way you can judge how much the economic climate has or hasn't effected ppv sales. UFC ppv sales are at all time highs despite the economy. The movie industry hasn't take a hit either. In general, it seems as though people are still willing to pay for entertainment despite economic conditions. The live gate and ppv numbers were significantly higher with Floyd against Hatton and Hoya rather than with Pac against the same two. It would be almost impossible to come up with a good argument as to why Pac should get the lions share regardless. And if Mayweather/Marquez does well(over 400k), than the excuse about the economy gets severely compromised.
imo, it can pass it if promoted properly. pac is a bigger threat to pbf then dlh was and hes more entertaining. that hatton ko really helps the cause. the two best fighters of this generation fighting against eahcother. great offense vs. great defense. contrast in styles and personality. all the makings of a recrord setting fight.
its not even an opinion ... its fact floyd is undefeated/ everyone hates him/ coming off a retirement / (if facing pacman) would have defeated someone that pacman could "barely" beat pacman BODIED floyd's last 2 opponents worse than he did/ is making history/ is "a good guy" I wouldnt be surprised if it did like 2.3 or something ... the promotion would be bigger than floyd vs odlh
What with these guys saying Floyd made the highest numbers? Floyd - Dela Hoya are most watched by Oscar fans. It was Oscar mainstream not Floyd, Floyd said he only takes the number because it was his win. But it didn't tell that everyone who watched it wanted to see Floyd. Floyd - Hatton are most watched by Hatton fans, It was Hatton's fans who made it not Floyd, Same as he goes. Not many people came to watch Floyd, mostly they just want to see Floyd loses his 0. Don't believe it. Then you must have been blind. It doesn't take a genius to know.
pac should get more. Its his last fight. and who is going to be doing all the promotions for the fight anyway. Top Rank.
the PBF-Hatton fights was initially reported to generate 850,000 buys but two months later, it reached the 900,000 mark..maybe they are having a longer time computing the real buys from the satellite systems
Get a real job and you'll know how hard the recession is hitting us.. Without a doubt the economy is a factor in ppv buys..You dont even need a job to figure it out, basic high school economics can teach you that :good On topic, 850k is a success and i think pac/mayweather if it should happen should be 50/50, 55/45..Im guessing 450k+ ppv buys for the mayweather/marquez bout.
the fight bombed it did no more than 600,000 buys..arum is hiding the numbers because of this.. remeber how quickly he released the pac vs hoya numbers..all of a sudden like his other box office disasters he wants to hide the numbers and release fals numbers./ watch how quickly floyd vs marquez numbers are released:deal
No matter how hyped the fight was, nobody gave Hatton a chance. The American public won't invest in Pac not because he isn't American, but because he isn't perceived as fighting the best fighters.
