how do you guys think this will do, will it get anywhere near the massive 1.5 mill in the UK vs mayweather? which broke all UK ppv records

i have a feeling this will do really well depending on how well its promoted although it won't get near a million.

HBO are putting there marketing muscle behind it so in the US it will do better, mayweather vs hatton in the US did over 800,000 mayweather is not popular especially with the latino population (a big ppv market) so i think this will do better in the US then in the UK

    USA- between 700,000 and 900,000
    UK- 300,000-600,000

I'll go for 500,000 to 750,000 in the UK. There doesn't seem the 'buzz' amongst casual fans like there was for the Mayweather fight.

The fight is not going to sell as well in the USA, simply because an American fighter is not involved.

As far as Britain goes, Pacquiao is about as well known as Mayweather Jr (The casual fancy probably know the name), thus it makes slightly more sales (than Lil Floyd/Ricky) as Hatton is as big as he has ever been, popularity wise, and has more chance of victory.

mayweather is american, but did poor ppv numbers before DLH and isn't popular for many reasons particularly his style

pacquiao's numbers before DLH where good (500,000 + vs marquez) and after beating DLH will be more well known by the casuals, plus the mexican community will tune in which you can't underestimate

in the UK it helped that mayweather is a good trash talker and it had that undefeated tag although your right hatton is bigger now then before he fought mayweather

all in all it will do better in the US then in the UK is my conclusion

As pure numbers it will of course do better in the US as they have a bigger population! But as a percentage number, I am pretty confident British sales will out do the USA.

This fight will be huge in the UK.

Just need the 24/7 to kick in and the fight to get closer, wall to wall coverage in the papers/SSN.

I reckon it'll do close to a million.

Pac's got a bigger reputation than Mayweather had I think, most people know about him smashing ODLH.

The thing missing is, Mayweather came over and pissed everybody off which made the fight even bigger, Pac won't do the same.

I know the real hype hasn't started but as the resident "boxing fan" in a group of friends I was getting pestered about Hatton-PBF from about 4 months before the fight. For Pac-Hatton I've only been "collared" twice so far....

Its not the most scientific comparision though!!;)

Do not underestimate British reserveness. We (the Brits, as a whole) appreciate those who have dignity and respect. Thus far in British publicity, Manny Paciquao has come across as a classy individual, that is a big British turn on, particularly for those with the money and access to buy the fight.

what about the desire for the casual to see hatton beat the "arrogent *****" which they all thought ricky was a cert to do

People will like Pac, but it won't make them buy the fight.

The element of 'I hope Hatton knocks out the mouthy ****' isn't there in this one.

I think Mayweather playing the pantomime villian was better for UK PPV sales than Pac being a nice guy will be. Theres no "personal" angle for a casual fan to latch onto, maybe thats why Hatton/ Sky are pushing the "PPV title" so much, after all Mayweather was PPV #1 when they fought but Hatton never mentioned it being for the "title" during the build up.

Mayweather lacked charm. Ali was a 'Mouthy ****' as you put it, but he did it with a tongue in cheek that people brought, unlike Lil Floyd.

The British need to be sold a story, just being mouthy does not do it. Manny has a better chance of winning British buyers because he puts himself across with a bit of class, that Mayweather lacked.

That adds to his charm, as he comes across as non threatening.
