I get the feeling that this is the last time we will see Margarito in a boxing ring if he values his long-term health.
:verysad I'm more pissed off about Plasterfists getting a payday more than anything. It'll probably be an entertaining enough fight. I don't really think that catchweight is that much of a big deal. It's three pounds less than what he weighed in at at his last fight. It won't be a De La Hoya type weight drain. We also have to remember that Pac is really small and what he is doing in going up so far in weight is pretty much unheard of. We seem to take his achievements for granted. If you proposed a fight between Pac and Margarito at 150 back in 2007 you would have been laughed out of the forum and called bat**** crazy.
just go to show how bad a state our beloved sport is in at the moment! easy pickings or manny. will we get mayweather vs williams or martinez next then?
This is a sad day for boxing. It'll be sadder when Pac or Floyd lose and not against each other. Pac and Floyd would be an extravaganza that would help boxing.
Ah well, here we go. It's a bit shot about the catchweight but it should be fun watching Manny bounce shot after shot off Margarito who will be too slow to react. I'm looking forward to this in a way, I just hope Margarito can give a decent account of himself.
Why are people so upset about the catchweight? Surely not because it sullies the integrity of the great WBC! It seems some people would prefer it to happen at 147 - surely draining Margo further. Forget the fact there's an alphabet strap on the line, try and forget Floyd didn't want to fight, and enjoy it for what it is. A semi-decent match up consisting of the world's best fighter showcasing his skills. We'll worry about next year later.
In fairness, Pac is great and all, but I'm starting to get sick of how they are racking up the number of weight classes where he is world champion. Now he's getting another title at in another weight class, when the guys he's fighting isn't close to being the top guy in the division, and he's not even fighting close to the weight limit. Every since super-featherweight there's been some shady business with all the fights (well except maybe Hatton at 140, but even still Hatton only had the IBO and Ring belt). At best you could say he's become the Top Rank P4P house champion.
