Will be the first fair indication of Pacquiao and Mayweather PPV buys against a similarly common opponent. The *****s are so quick to compare and judge Pacquiao and Mayweather PPV buys against similarly common opponents while completely disregarding the just as important circumstances surrounding those fights which clearly favors Mayweather.

De La Hoya vs Pacquiao PPVs against De La Hoya vs Mayweather PPVs: The De La Hoya vs Mayweather PPV fight was a highly anticipated fight whereas De La Hoya vs Pacquiao PPV fight was a heavily criticized fight which many thinking it was unfair mismatch in favor of De La Hoya. The De La Hoya vs Pacquiao PPV fight also happened while at the deep end of the current Global Economic Recession.

Pacquiao vs Hatton PPVs against Mayweather vs Hatton PPVs:
Hatton was undefeated when Mayweather faced him. The Pacquiao vs Hatton PPV fight also happened while still at a Global Economic Recession.

Pacquiao vs Marquez 1 and 2 against Mayweather vs Marquez PPVs: Pacquiao vs Marquez fights 1 and 2 both happened at lower weight divisions. Marquez was not as popular when Pacquiao faced him. Marquez only really became popular after fighting Pacquiao. The Mayweather vs Marquez fight was also rescheduled during the Mexican Independence holiday which boost PPV sales.

Pacquiao vs Mosley PPVs against Mayweather vs Mosley PPVs: Mosley was coming from a big win when Mayweather faced him whereas Mosley was coming from a loss and draw when Pacquiao faced him.

i've been saying all along ortiz, bhop and donaire fights...

may put a damper on ppvs.

OR Pac is so big in the US, it wouldn't matter.

It will be interesting to say the least.

I know for a fact that Pac-JMM 3 will do better than PBF-JMM. However that doesn't necessarily mean Pac is the bigger draw, common opponent but different circumstances. However when you use this logic on *****'s as to why PBF-DLH/Mosley did better...they just spout out the utter BS "numbers dont lie".

    boxing is showbiz

    Juan-emmanuel has DRAMA

Floyd-Juan had no drama, Floyd barely even used his punchlines to sell this fight

It won't do better. Might wind up even at best. Unless it has some pre fight reality show type drama. Like Juan getting caught on TMZ smashing jinky. The latino fanbase don't seem too hard up for this fight and are more intrigued by the cotto/margarito rematch.

On second thought, if juan eats a **** sandwich on 24 7 then they do 1.5 easy.

How about using you own logic:

Mayweather Marquez: Heavily criticized where the bigger fighter did not follow the catchweight. Marquez not given much of a chance by anyone and everyone is expecting a stinker from two counter punchers.

Pac Marquez III: heavily criticized but long awaited fight. Seen as more even fight because Marquez seems to have Pac's number. Marquez not given much of a chance by anyone but everyone is expecting fireworks, whether it is one sided or back and forth action.

As such Pac Marquez III should do much better based on the circumstances around the fight.

As a result Mayweather Marquez and Pac Marquez III is not a good measuring stick for comparing their drawing power.

I bet you a grip Pac vs JMM 3 does more than 1.15 million....that's what Floyd vs. JMM did, right?

The main point I'm trying to make when I made this thread is that it seems the *****s are so convinced that just because Mayweather sold more PPV than Pacquiao, he is clearly by far the bigger draw while completely disregarding the circumstances. They just keep on saying "numbers don't lie" even though the circumstances are just as important.

Also, if think about it more thoroughly the circumstances between Pacquiao vs Marquez III and Mayweather vs Marquez isn't as wide or as significant compared to Pacquiao and Mayweather's fights against other common opponents.

    Let see

Floyd-Mosley, the guy with no fanbase, smacked Oscar-emmanuel and Cottoe-emmanuel, Oscar and Cottoe are actually very popular, especially Oscar who is PPV King

"numbers dont lie" - you dumb?

So if Pac-JMM 3 does better than PBF-JMM Pac is the bigger draw? After all, that would be their last common opponent.

Here's another one, is Clottey a bigger draw than MAB/JMM/Morales? Afterall, Clottey did 750k against Pac, those guys never came close to that....but but but...numbers dont lie. Dumb fcuk..seriously. :patsch

The math has already been done against common opponents. Floyd always out sells Pacquiao in ppvs. I hope Pacquiao-Marquez sells though because boxing wins.
