My breakdown of Pacquiao vs Marquez. I'll probably catch a lot of flak for this but, despite being close rounds and a close score, this fight was not close. The 3 knockdowns (and I included them all) made this fight close. With that said, here's my breakdown... feel free to submit your own score for the fight. Pacquiao vs Marquez Quadrilogy: Part 1 Round 1 Pacquiao (Pacquiao 10-6) Pacquiao, obviously. Marquez was caught flush A LOT and dropped on his ass. Easy round to score. Round 2 Pacquiao (Pacquiao 20-15) Pac is still in control, Marquez looks to have lingering effects from the first round. Round 3 Marquez (Pacquiao 29-25) Marquez found his rhythm and countered effectively. Haven't seen anyone talk about this but he wobbled Pac at the very end of the round. Round 4 Pacquaio (Pacquiao 39-34) Very close round but I believe Pacquiao took it in the closing seconds. Could see it either way. Round 5 Marquez (Pacquiao 48-44) Clear round for Marquez. I noticed he was using that same right hand, countered and popped Pac's head very well. Round 6 Marquez (Pacquiao 57-54) Marquez lands a huge right, stuns Pacquiao; Pac is durable and stays up. Pac's flurries are mostly ineffective and result in being countered by uppercuts and hooks. Good round for Marquez. Round 7 Marquez (Pacquiao 66-64) Marquez momentarily backs Pac up, for every punch Pac lands, Marquez counters. Evening out the exchanges. That same right hook/overhand seems to land at will. Round 8 Marquez (Pacquiao 75-74) Very competitive round, close. Another big right hand from Marquez right before a clash of heads. Pacquiao is actually throwing fewer punches this round. Pacquiao's gloves almost hit the ground... he had a nice flurry at the end (about 20 seconds) but not enough to steal the round. Round 9 Pacquiao (Pacquiao 85-83) Pacquiao respecting Marquez's power and doing well to box and avoid exchanges. Close round but I believe it's a clear Pac round despite Marquez hurting him in the closing seconds. Round 10 Marquez (Pacquiao 94-93) Pacquiao doing a better job of slipping Marquez's jabs, sliding to his right and popping up on the left side of Marquez. Both guys look timid in the first half of the round. Marquez landing the better combinations so far and he punctuates the round with a flurry at the end. Round 11 Marquez (Draw 103-103) Fairly even round but again, Marquez getting the better of the exchanges. Round 12 Marquez (Marquez 113-112) Round started extremely, then Marquez pulled ahead slightly in the middle. Then Pacquiao begins landing the more effective punches. Then Marquez comes back.... wow. Enough to win the round? Debatable. I personally scored it 113-112 Marquez but could see it either way or a draw. I'm happy to discuss with anyone. PART 2 COMING SOON.
I had the fight 9 Rds - 3 rds in Favor of Dinamita. I gave Pacquiao Rds. 1,2, and one more round somewhere.
I had it a bit wider as above after watching the fight a second time round , but I did find that judging at the time pretty fair. Probably because its hard to look past the first two rounds where Manny was so dominate.
