I watched the replay of Marquez vs. Pacquiao on HBO last night, showing some of Marquez prior fights. It was very clear to me that Pacquiao was winning the fight and was ahead on all the judges score cards, even the narrators, Jim Lampley, Roy Jones Jr. and Max Kellerman had Pacquiao winning. Then came the sixth round when Marquez got in the one lucky punch that ended the fight. Please, please, please Oh creator of boxing matches. Let there be another Marquez vs Pacquiao fight !!!!!!! dorjbrun:happy
the official scorecards showed pac winning by 1 round on all 3 scorecards at the time of stoppage, hardly a runaway lead, dont give me well he was winning the 6th round business because it just doesnt matter, theres a reason theres a whole 3 mins in a round, you score untill the end of the round just remeber for argument sake if that ko was just a knockdown going into the 7th round marquez would have been up by 1 point on all 3 cards i personally would love to see another fight as a think the damage done to pac from the ko means hes never the same again and marquez would do it again, just quicker this time
A Pacquiao vs Marquez 5 will be interesting because Pac will learn from that mistake to not rush in, He was winning the fight and had Marquez nose bleeding and Pac just got too over confident and wanted to finish Marquez off.
1. it wasn't a lucky punch Marquez was waiting for that mistake all night long 2. Pacquaio was ahead on the cards IMO 48:45 was that' not far if pacman had surived the knockdown the cards would be 56:55 Pacman after the 6th round 3. I think Marquez might retire if he beats Bradley but i would also love to see a 5th fight
When someone KO's you, it does not matter how many rounds you won during the bout. I would love a rematch. The bias people have is ridiculous. Marquez earned that one fair and square. The rest of them were all very close. Unless the money is right I doubt JMM will give up his "feeling" that he wants to keep. In other words he has to be the higher earner in that matchup or forget about it.
To be really honest, if we get rid of the "something to prove" factor or whatever. Pac vs Marquez is still one of the best quality fights (high skill and fan friendly) that can be made today. And OP, that was not a lucky punch. If you watched the fight Marquez landed the same punch in the previous round.
It's a battle when these two go at it. I mean, WOW ! but Marquez has had the edge each time. Marquez is by far the better boxer and has intelligence this separates the two. Pacquiao has the speed and power to make it interesting. But speed and power isn't enough in the whole grand scheme of things. It's intelligence, technique and skills that pay the bills.
Ricky Hatton was winning the second round against Pacquiao "by a country mile" before he got knocked out cold. His own words, and if anyone should know its the man who was in the ring with Manny for the entire fight. (other than the referee)
i think ts was just fascinated with that fight where fighter 1 was ahead and bloodying fighter 2 then suddenly fighter 2 ko'ed fighter 1 cold. what a fight! i'm with the ts, i want to see that exciting and entertaining fight again.
Why do people always bring up JMM's nose being broken? did everyone forget that JMM nose was broken in the 1st round of the 1st fight? What worried me the most is how JMM was staggerd in the 4th fight, though he was fighting back you can tell he was hurt. Sure JMM had been knocked down before but not hurt like that. If pac had kept the pace up he may of put marquez down again when he was hurt. Marquez though with skill & experience dodged a lot of pacs punches until pac slowed down. No lucky punches here, JMM did what it took to get him out of trouble & finsihed the show. I dont think these guys should fight each other again, they been in the game for a long time through a lot of wars. They don't need any more life threatning damage. JMM has already made clear the retirement is right around the corner, pac has been on the decline & his time is close as well. Lets just be happy for the 4 hellish fights we got each time they met in the ring.
