it could go either way. whenever you have two atgs or potential atgs, it can go either way. but being forced to pick one, have to go with mayweather by either a decision or late ko. reason being, pac has never fought a guy with the kind of defense mayweather posses. nor has he fought an accurate puncher like mayweather. styles makes fights and imo, mayweather will frustrate pac enough to win. however, mayweather's low punch out put and pac great offense could result in pac winning, but more then likely, the more skilled man will win, which is mayweather.
What opportunities? You can't throw over the top of Pacquiao or you'll get run over like Cotto. You can try and counter him, but he's nowhere near as vulnerable to that anymore and you're then relying on landing more counters than he does normal punches, which isn't easy.
Lets see....Pac don't move his head, has no jab so to speak of,is really not that accurate if you watch his flurries in slow mo, gets hit with ease, can't avoid a right hand by all means necessary and fights carefully tailermade opponents at catchweights either shot or on the severe decline...........got to give it to Arum, he marketed this boy beautifully and most of you fools bought the whole story line hook and sinker.................was outboxed /frustraded by slow ass Cotto when shaky chin did not wanted to trade lol Fact: Pac overwhelms/powers (and his punching power is wayyyyyyyyyy overrated at welter) his opponents, he can't box for **** if fighters don't go toe to toe with him and ultimately Mayweather is the absolute worst opponent for him in terms of style. But that is no news to Roach/Arum etc company.........they wants to milk that cow for as long as possible. Some of you clowns will scream the fix is in when they witness how easily FMJ is going to handle him and possible stop him late.
That's bull****; he moves off to the sides IMMEDIATELY after getting off, and it's not relevant anyway since his main defensive attribute is his foot-speed. Nobody seems to be hitting him much to me. Cotto couldn't hit him with one. Like he hand-picked Oscar, Hatton and Cotto? As opposed to Mayweather, who's beaten precisely no-one of particular note in his entire career apart from DLH? Pacquiao's record pisses all over Mayweather's, sorry. Outboxed while winning every minute of every round? Cotto was running from the guy who was out-gunning and out-thinking him at every exchange. I guess Mosley should also get stick for dropping a decision to Cotto. NOBODY has ever hurt Cotto with one punch from nowhere like Pacquiao did; Margo could only stop him from accumulation. And Pac isn't even a natural welter. Somebody with a low work rate, freely goes to the ropes and who's vulnerable to a soutpaw? Mayweather couldn't stop ****ing Baldomir.
It would be on a par at least with Chavez-Whitaker & biggest since Leonard-Hagler IMPO. Oh... & Mayweather would win.... Reasons - He can match speed with Pac... he wont hang around to take a barrage of punches... he wont go toe to toe & try out-pac Pac... he will punish every/most mistakes... he is a better athlete than Pac with similar stamina (something Pac is not used to)... he will be comfortable at 147... & his all round boxing skill set far surpasses Pac`s. :good
Pac-Workrate decision. Floyd has done nothing to show me he's truly an 'Elite' fighter. He's good, no doubt, but I have more question marks over his ability to defend agaisnt Pacs speedy assault than Pacs ability to close him down and throw punches all over him.
The pressure on the sport that made them rich didnt mean too much to them during the last set of negotiations, I hope Im wrong but I see similar selfishness in future negotiations also.
The fight wont happen. Maybe the two will fight each other years from now when they are all washed-up and irrelevant.
Why do you think? Do you think its the egos of Bob Arum, DLH and Mayweather or do you think one fighter is avoiding the other for any particular reason?
Mayweather should win. He's a naturally bigger man and that should be enough. Pac has achieved more and would rank higher p4p. I'd like to think Pac could win because if Pac wins boxing wins. Unless Shane beats Floyd in which case we'd have a gebnuine superfight that would appeal to the masses and would deliver the action and drama to catapult the sport right back up there. Pac's only chance is to out-punch Floyd for 7 of the 12 rounds and avoid getting dropped by Floyd's right hand. He could take the decision in that scenario but I don't think Floyd will need to be too cautious with a guy with Pac's dimensions.
The fights going to be more of whether or not Pac can get close to Mayweather than vice versa. Mayweather is very good at controlling the pace and range of a fight. Even though guys like DLH were getting close to Mayweather they were hardly scoring well or with effective shots. Most of it was DLH pounding on his side.
Pac would outpoint him. Floyd's defense would make sure that he is not KO'd and rarely caught clean but in order to hold that defense up, he would have to sacrifice alot of offense, and Pac would rack up the rounds.
Pac, and I'm not even a fan of his style. I am just not impressed with Mayweather, I don't know why people bring him up in their pedestal as a Great Defensive fighter (not to demean the Mayweather fans). I think Pac's speed, footwork, angles and pressure will win a UD or SD. ^ Agreed
