Wasn't every Joyboys expecting Shane-Floyd to go over 2mil PPV. Hell Schaeffer was saying that it could reach as high as 4 mil.
I sure Schaeffer did say something stupid like this.... No one in their right mind, thought a fight with Shane was doing over 2 Mill
A non American against a 6 to 1 underdog getting 1.3 mill ? That's impressive. I was at the MGM closed circuit viewing in Vegas for this fight and the Mayweather v Mosley . PAC vs Mosley had over 20k people , Mosley vs Mayweather was like 4k . Worldwide , PAC is the much bigger draw. There's a reason why PAC gets Nike and other global sponsors, while Mayweather gets nothing.
and the most telling is last 2 for each after the economic collapse (level playing field) 2009 2010 Floyd 2 fights jmm + smm = 2.4 million 2010 2011 Manny 2 fights Margartio 1.15 Shane 1.3min = 2.45 million Current PPV King = Manny by half a mill
I don't actually think this is even the official number 1.3 million was Arum's prediction from 7-10 days ago. Got a bit of media coverage I'd wait for the official web announcement
You know, Fight Hype are running this story "Sources close to Pacquiao said "Bob Arum expects 1.3 million buys" It's not official
the fight was heavily promoted by GBP and are really expecting big figures since they hyped it so much. also it was a fight between the two top americans, welters and P4P fighters where casuasl fans were led to believe that mosley would have beaten floyd. the pac-mosley fight was not as hyped nor considered as big a fight as floyd-mosley.
You've also got to remember that the fight was available to purchase for 2 days. Not one. That's the figure. Mayweathers numbers are for one night only
If Manny fought once every 2 years, nobody would even know he existed. They only really know now, as his management team mention Mayweather every 2 weeks
its starting to hit the web now.... http://www.examiner.com/fight-sport...ys-for-shane-mosley-fight?fb_comment=34010801
What is that supposed to mean The most popular fighter in America, again, gets less PPV sales than the Mayweather he's either more popular in America than Mayweather or not. Evidently not
Examiner.com is not the web It's a blogger, who probably read the fight hype story It's not true until CBS post it
