its called loss of intrest, ever heard of that? by that point people were near done with DLH, he had basicly lost every single major fight he had been in. this was Oscars chance and saving face after quitting against Hopkins, though I felt he beat PBF, most felt that his performance wasnt good enough.
and lets not also forget this fight with Pacquiao vs Delahoya was considered a huge mismatch and bad for the sport, and that to played a factor in those numbers, most respectable fight fans boycotted the fight on that alone I know I did, I didnt order it out simply becuase at the time I beleived that this was a not good for boxing...

I think everyone can agree that 1.3 ppvs is pretty good considering how shitty the fight was.

 

I see where you are coming from, but that also indicates that Floyd fought better versions of these fighters.

But apart from that "loss of interest" ppv numbers are the only way you can actually judge a fighters appeal, its all good fans saying they enjoy watching fighter x y z fight but the numbers indicate who they want to see perform, and against common opponents Floyd has outdone Manny.

It really is as simple as that.

You could argue that cus Floyd did fight a better version of DLH no doubt and Floyd fought and beat Oscar on all of Oscars terms.
He did beat a better version of Mosley, no doubt...

Pac fans can argue, that Manny beat a better version of Marquez, at Marquez best fighting weight, they can also argue they destroyed Hatton at Hattons best weight which in reality is true.
They can also argue that Manny beat a man who Floyd out right ducked Margarito..

Both sides have arguements thats why we need this fight, talking about numbers and **** really doesnt prove anything it doesnt prove who the real draw is the numbers are too close and on top of that there are other factors.

we can talk about common opponents all day long, but none of that will decide who the better fighter is, that is why we need the fight.

What I can say is that Floyd has had trouble with southpaws who have speed, and Manny is a southpaw with speed.
however Manny has had trouble with counterpunchers/boxers
its the perfect match up in terms of style, but in terms of fans, Honestly the fans hurt this fight more than I think the fighters themselves do.

 

Floyd is without question the most popular US boxer, bar none. Globally Floyd is also pretty popular but PAC is right there with him as "most popular" boxer in the sport.

The BIG difference is Floyd is simply Floyd INactivity and the kind of "draw" he is...Floyd draws folks in by rubbing them the wrong way. However....the man clearly knows how to keep himself relevant by popping in and out of the media spot light and keeping fight fans holding on to the "dream". He's a proven DRAW! His numbers "P4P" are unmatched.....which is of course on an average.

PAC is a top draw based on being in the spot light all the time and being consistant as a boxer. OVERALL PAC produces MORE revenue and PPV buys that are consistantly high. Manny draws fans in based on his fights and how he's seen as this unstoppable small man who's beating up bigger guys.

Whose more of a Draw? One can make a case for both....just like the question of who is faster. Floyd is faster one shot at a time where PAC is faster as a combo puncher.

This debate will go on forever unless one or the other completely BUSTS on a PPV event.

 

Manny can be goofy,non-confrontational, and boring as **** while fighting an old, shot, 2 year win-less fighter and sell only 100k less. With Arum getting CBS to agree to cross promote him. As opposed to GBP dumping all their own money with HBO to promote Floyd-Mosley.
