The state of Filipino football has always been in disaray. Our youth teams have always been very decent in world competition. When it comes to adults, #1 we do not have a viable pro league, #2 the national team consists of players that have connections/friends in the federation, meaning the best players do not represent the country. Countries like Brunei, a neighboring nation with less than 5 million population, have beaten the Philippines with a score like 13-0. The only bright spot is that there are 2 players (brothers) in the English Premiere League that are half-Filipino that are qualified to play for the national team.
Philippine can beat JAPAN and Korea when the sport was at it's peek in the Islands way back we use to OWN em and producing the leading scorer of FC BArcelona Paulino ALcantara.
Just one I researched. The others are half Brits, but not Premiere League.
