Maybe Pacman imported his scales from the Philippines. Just kidding. LOL. I can almost imagine Shane Mosley crawling in with a janitor outfit and quickly changing the scales when nobody was looking.
So in normal circumstances that would mean the title isn't on the line...... oops - no title is on the line anyway. So it basically just comes down to money. WHO CARES other than Manny, who is not exactly hard up for cash anyway. :-((
Whether the scales are right or not doesn't change any of that. The fight would have gone ahead even if the scales would have said Oscar was 245lbs. THe only difference any of this makes is extra payments for Manny. Anyway, as has already been pointed out the scales were most likely correct. I seriously doubt most of the undercard fighters are actually over the limit as well. :verysad
according to the contract, dlh has to pay pac 3 million for every lb above the 147 limit. that means 6 million dollars. and that extra two pounds above 147 is significant. this gives dlh an advantage of not draining himself too much to make the welter limit. that means he will be stronger for the fight than he should be if he were to make 147. this reminds me of the second corralles-castillo fight.
Maybe Oscar paid someone to fix the scales and paid all of the undercard fighters to wear 4lb weights under their shorts when they were weighing in. He truly is the sneakiest.
there was a significant time gap between the weigh-in of the undercards and the pac/dlh weigh-in. the scale could've been re-calibrated during that period.
it won't be the first time that weigh-in cheating occurred. castillo's doctor also cheated on the scales by putting his foot below it while castillo was being weighed-in. and your so-called "elves" need not be invisible. there was no attention given to the scale during the big lull between the undercards and the main event weigh-in.
I do like the way that you're now treating it as incontrevertible fact that Oscar weighed 149lbs and cheated somehow... Maybe he was suspended by invisible wires.... :think
well, it won't be proven that he cheated. but as roach says, what else can we do. the fight is already here.
This is just a bunch of BS. If they didn't think the scales were right, they could've just ask for another scale. Why wait to bring it up?
no excuses are needed. pac is the very clear underdog in this fight being the much smaller man. i give pac a 1 in 3 chance to win but i still hope he does. i just thought that he would be given a fighting chance and then this scale controversy happens... :-( and 6 million dollars (3 mil x 2 lbs.) is not exactly a couple of dollar bills either...
