The best part of it is the CBS presence. I've been saying for a long time now that boxing greatly needs to get back into main stream TV in the US such CBS - NBC or ABC. This is the kind of move that will make boxing slowly regain its popularity in America. On another note, Mayweather will most likely deal with King now and Don has a better relationship with SHOWTIME than HBO obviously, so keep a little faith...
Will it really make much a difference? In MMA Strikeforce are with CBS/Showtime but it doesnt mean **** as it hasnt stolen market share from the UFC.
Bob Arum got pissed when HBO turned down the next Top Rank vs. Shot Name fight and that's the only reason he moves this fight to Showtime. But everybody knows for high PPV numbers you must fight on HBO so Arum will soon realize that HBO is in a better position than him.
A few posted 'you can't sell as much PPVs through Showtime/CBS' - whats the thinking behind that? Sounds like BS
Amir Khan is the only star left on HBO now. Good luck with future HBO main events featuring Andre "ready to be exposed" Berto and Sad Dawson ****en lol meanwhile, CBS found itself a boxer that has cross-over star appeal that it will market on its network programming
HBO having 50% more subscribers for one. Despite they had a lot of success with Tyson, Showtime could never become a PPV competitor with HBO. Not that I wouldn't love to see it, but here Bob Arum is causing the issue and I don't think Showtime will become competitive in PPV, not with these match-ups. A bull**** fight is bull**** on HBO and Showtime as well, but HBO has more subscribers so they can sell bull**** to more people. It's that simple.
Berto-Sergio Mora would be very marketable, they would sell tickets and sell-out half of cowboy stadium. Or Paul Williams vs cornelius bundrage, Tarver vs Clinton Woods lol these fights would draw huge amounts of money to las vegas. HBO could say **** you Arum GTFO anytime lol
