was watcing pacquiao against clottey and hatton today and notcied how much his balance has improved over the last 3 years

looking at him against morles and even barerra he seemed to always be off balance when throwing combinations and it seemed to throw off his power and accuracy

he now seems to have greatly improved his balance and when throwing combos, his feet are nicely positioned giving him full balance and control over his punching ability

add that to the punches he is now throwing with a right hook he never used to use ( just as khan seems t ave discovered he has a great left hook) and left uppercut

he always used to just throw 1,2s when he started out but has improved on his range of punches

his footwork is now much better which also helps with his balance

obviuosly he is much bigger but i think alex ariza has alot to do with tht

but i think his better balance is what has made him so devastating
even at lower weight he clearly had great power with knock downs against morales, barrera and marquez and lately against cotto and hatton

he's always had great power but couldnt seem to always contol it

people seem surprised how well he carried his power but roy jones jr did the same over a weight span of 40 pounds (160-200) and srr was knocking out middleweight with 1 punch despite starting at lightweight

    steroids- no

    great coaching and dedication- yes

I don't know about better overall balance... but I will tell you that he doesn't fall in with his left hand quite as often as he used. I mean he still does it here and there, which is a flaw he'll probably never fully correct, but he doesn't do it with every left hand he throws like he used to.

and because of that he is a much better fighter

he used to throw the left, b off balance and everything else he threw was dangerous but rubbish

now he can throw it and b on balance to throw more controlled crisper shots

he's a combination puncher and now he aint falling all over the place he is much more able to use different angles and get more power behind shot

The only balance pac has is when he holds the wall to brace himself up while ariza injects him.

He still does it though leaving him open for right hand counters. What he doesn't seem to do anymore is lean in with his body quite as much, but he'll still allow his back foot to slide forward which leaves his body square and easy to counter.

    Improved, but not perfected.

When he was about to finish Hatton in the second round, he trapped Ricky in the corner and I noticed that he didnt jump in and go face first and open for a hail mary counter.

Hatton threw a bomb too, at that moment. If it connected, Manny could have been KD.

He was just at arms length, and he didnt go too wild, throwing his finishing flurries. He was less reckless and a bit more selective and less of a come forward puncher during flurries.

Maybe I'll post it here later.

    EDIT:

Here's the TOP RANK broadcast, the one the Philippines received, that day. (We dont get the HBO team on local TV)

    around the 2:50 mark

The original version of MP would have been on Ricky's chest and wailing away.

I get your point. Pacquiao is an improved fighter. So what else is new? You're not exactly keeping on subject with the balance theme here.
