    He has big calf muscles because he is small and that's his natural build. Calf muscles produce very little power themselves, they are strong because they have to withstand a lot of force but the power is produced by the large quad and hamstring muscles working on the tendons.
    Look at sprinters, they don't have unusually large calf muscles do they?

    You generate power by pushing against the ground, that's why you have to bend your knees. Try jumping using just your calf muscles, you're not going to get far.

    Calfs are renowned for being the most stubborn muscle to build, that's the main reason most people have better thighs than calves.

    I think power first generates from the calves when throwing power punches, IMO

    pac fights and springs around on his toes alot. That will develop your calf muscles quite a bit. And they add to your punching power.

    You box on the balls of your feet, which flex's the calves and even when a boxer plants, they aren't throwin punches on their heals but rather from toes. Stand up right now and try it. :D

    Calf muscles are hard to build because they are mostly composed of slow twitch fibres.
    Every sporting movement that involves generating power with the legs works on the same principle, the large muscles shortening the tendons then the recoil transferring the force into the ground. Tendons are responsible for most of the power of movements, not muscles. That's why it's important to have stiff tendons around the ankle and knee joints.
    This isn't my opinion, that's how it works.

    Nah that stiffens the archilles tendon, which does add to power and efficiency of movement. The calf muscles might get a little bit bigger but that's to support the tendon, not generate power in itself.

    Calfs are also hard to build because they are under constant strain just walking around in every day life and need a lot of extra contraction via exercise to grow.
    Tendon's sustain power that the muscles generate, when they can't anymore and the force is too much, they tear. I tore my pec major which I had re-attached to the humerus, but I'm getting away from the point as this discussion is. lol
