Pacquiao's fame in the Mexican community really intrigues me.

I spoke to a few African Americans the other day. These guys said they used to like Dlh. These guys also asked me who Pac fought, and I said he fought Morales, Juan Marquez, and Barrera. One guy asked me if they were old when PAc fought them. I said Marquez wasn't. One guy asked me who else did PAc fight besides those guys? I said, go to www.eastisdeboxing, get a free account and ask a guy named Pacfan84 lol. These guys also said they used to watch Morales and Barrera go at it. They even mentioned Barrera beating Hamed and Morales beating Pac. The last thing they asked me was who did Pac face in their prime who could beat him...like a Duran-Leonard type opponent. I said no one. I mentioned Valero and they all said in unison, "Yo, Pac needs to fight that guy"...

Believe me, I'm not into the jealousy thing at all. But I know it's a real factor for some.

Let's face it: Chicks dig Oscar, and he's wealthy as hell and a true crossover star. Sometimes you are most jealous of those whom you feel are most similar to yourself. In other words, Mexicans might feel more that they could 'be' Oscar (if they had different circumstances) than, say, Floyd Mayweather. And so the reality of Oscar's success, good looks and fame can then make some Mexicans feel worse about their own lives in comparison than they might about another fighter who is not of their ethnicity. I'm not making this point as well as I could but I hope you will get what I am saying here.

Also, many fighters don't have Oscar's looks. Tyson was fabulously wealthy once, but he was so troubled you didn't envy him so much as feel bad for him. Or a guy can look like your typical pug, or be fat like Old George Foreman. These people might not generate the same kind of resentment as Oscar does because DLH has the wealth and the looks. He's the kind of guy who you might watch one of his fights and your girlfriend says "He's cute." That bugs some people.

People are funny creatures. Never underestimate the jealousy factor. I'll give you another example of jealousy and resentment that just sprang up hard starting last night: Brock Lesnar. There are a lot of guys who train at MMA dojos who are pissed that this huge physical freak just came in and won one of the top belts in their sport in like 6 months with very little background in the martial arts (of course his college wrestling is crucial to his success, but many of the guys I'm talking about dismiss this because Brock participated in 'fake' pro wrestling). These envious guys wanted to believe that they had a unique set of skills -- a barrier to entry, if you will -- and fake pro wrestlers couldn't beat them in their game. Brock's win ruined that facade, and many are not handling it well.

What Brock and Oscar have in common is that they have been successful in a number of different arenas. Oscar: Boxing, looks/girls, money, fame. Brock: College wrestling, pro wrestling, NFL (some success; he made a pro team's practice squad after never really playing the sport) and now MMA. People often get envious of those who are able to do a lot of things well, particularly when they seem to do so easily. Why? Because it makes you look at yourself and say "Why can't I do that? Why am I not doing that?", and that often generates resentment rather than motivation. And, as I said with Oscar, the more similar the person you're comparing yourself with is to yourself (his being Mexican), the more intense the anger/resentment/feeling like a failure can be.

You are right here with me defending the man after I post about him lol. You stay posting on any Pac thread lol. I can talk about boxers other than Pac. There's hispanic people who respect Manny because he fights like a true mexican warrior but they will always go for their fighters then anyone else.Trust me because I saw Manny vs Solis in the Alamodome in S.A, Tx and a lot of hispanic people were going for Solis.

Why didn't you mention Ledwaba's name?

Are you getting any thrills of being a hater and nuisance at such?
