Pacquiao's Imminent Return... and another damned catchweight.

Obviously its Pacquiao's camp who will be setting any catchweight limits.

The catchweight in this instance benefits Pacquiao since both Rios and Alvarado have been known to weigh more than Pacquiao on fightnight.

The best avenue to beat Pacqiuao for either Rios or Avarado is through strenghth and power.
They are not particularly more skilled than Pacquiao, and certainly they're not quicker or faster.

Pacquiao needs to be light on his feet to have an easy time with either, and in case the fight turns into a rumbe and tumble type of fight, you dont want to have Pacquiao rumbling with a bigger and more powerful puncher, thus it makes sense if you're Pacquiao to set a catchweight to make certain either will drain to make weight and possibly not be as strong if they had'nt drained.

Personally though, Pacquiao should'nt have much trouble with either of them catchweight or not. Its just Arum and Pacquiao's camp dotting their i's and crossing their t's!

I swear the word catchweight and Pacaquiao are becoming synonymous with each other. I'd really wish he'd stand up and say no more catchweights. IMO Pac never needed a catchweight to beat Marg or Cotto. And IMO it just shows what little confidence those TR bitches have in Pac's ability to get the job done in the ring without doing something that will affect his opponents in some way or form. It's pathetic. I pity Pacquiao for not leaving when he could.

 

Yeah, it will be a damn good night of boxing, though. I'd pay for that PPV, just like I would've payed for Rios vs. Alvarado I and II.

In the end I think the catchweight is sort of pointless.

It benefits Pac, as he's been at WW for 4 years while Alvarado and Rios have yet to fight there.

If it didn't benefit Pac as some are saying, the fight would be at 140. And if it didn't benefit Alvarado or Rios, it would be at 147. Which is why in the end I think it is largely irrelevant.
