A gif that a poster in here has in his signature reminded me of possibly the last time Pacquiao was visibly hurt in a fight: The second fight with Marquez. I don't remember the exact round, but a right followed by a left hook by Marquez rocked Pac pretty bad for a moment and that was the last time I remember Pac being definitely hurt in a fight (correct me if I'm wrong).

How do you explain the fact that he got hurt more (and more often) when he fought at lower weights, but now not even strong welterweights seem to be able to hurt him one bit? He looks invincible in there right now and it's not like he hasn't been hit with some vicious punches. Before the second knockdown in the Cotto fight, Cotto caught Pac with some big shots yet I remember being bewildered by seeing Pac not even blink.

For those that think I'm trying to imply something, I'm not. It's an honest question and I'd like to get some feedback. Pac fans are welcomed.

Pac started taking PEDs that increased his punch resistance.

When you get stunned your legs stiff up and your balance goes for a few seconds. Pac was caught with hard shots but never looked in deep ****.

marquez's style wll always gve pac fits. i think pac was drained as well.

He rehydrated to 147 i believe. thats alot on one day so that might have contributed as well.

The logical explanation for that is Pac is not comfortable at lower weights.

    Pac's a natural Welter.

Pac was getting caught more and by better punches back then.

For example those uppercuts that Clottey landed. Pac is leaning on him and Clottey is basically pushing his uppercut up through Pac's guard. He is putting his shoulder into the punch but not his whole body.

Another example is Clottey's straight right hand. When he was catching Pac with it, it was so extended that there was no more follow through on it. Not exactly the most devastating punch.

Also that example you refer to of Marquez rocking Pacquiao with a left hook. Pac's feet were in the air when he got caught and he was knocked off balance. You look at his eyes he does not look rocked. Not saying he wasn't rocked by JMM but I don't think that particular shot is a good example since his feet were in the air so of course he will be off balance even if he isn't rocked. Take another look at that shot and look at Pac's eyes onces he lands he doesn't look so rocked. Not saying Marquez never rocked Pac just don't think he was as hurt as people think by that punch. It kind of hit him at the end of Marquez' reach and Pac was sort of rolling away from it too.

Also, Pac was hurt on at least one occasion against Cotto and also one against Oscar and one straight right to the beltline against Clottey but those punches are too few and far between. I can't believe people actually think that someone will beat Pacquiao with a single knockout shot. Even if the guy has a 12lb weight advantage on Pac, you aren't gotta send him into la-la land with one punch unless its a picture perfect one. Look at how many punches JMM was able to absorbe from PBF while at 126 and 130 Pac had him on the floor several times and wobbling all over the place several other.

Quality of punches > strength of opponent. Larios is the last guy who had Pac's legs really looking like spaghetti and he was actually moving up from 122 to 130.

Marquez is a notch or two above everyone Pacquiao has faced since then. It's the quality of opposition, at least in part. Secondly, I'd say Pac wasn't making 130 well anymore. When you have to drain too much, your punch resistance DOES change for real physically explained reasons. So, maybe a combination of those two things. I wouldn't downplay Marquez just being a much better boxer than Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Diaz and Oscar's zombie either. Those guys are bigger and mostly stronger, okay. But if you don't know how to place a punch like an expert, and with regularity, than your strength and size advantage may mean virtually nothing by comparison.
