Pacs punches will have little or no power behind them seeing how he took a blood test a mere 20 days before the fight. He needs at least 24 days to recuperate so I expect him to have little or no power come fight night.
Unless Clottey started working on his countering, Pacquiao is going to be whaling on him all night. Unlike his past opponents, pac doesn't get tired
I'll go for moderate success in terms of accuracy. A tight guard is a tight guard, its very difficult to punch through it with great effect, especially when we're talking about a big, strong man with big arms. Pacquiao does find unlikely angles that is for sure. The thing in Pac's favour is Clottey doesn't always counterpunch. I think he's capable but sometimes he tends not to. If he doesn't respond to Pac's onslaughts Pacquiao is going to be buzzing around a heavy bag all night and eventually Clottey's guard will weaken.
I am predicting a stoppage somewhere in the 9th...courtesy of Pac. Pac will see openings, there is always an opening, position himself and land. I can also see him breaking the guard with 10 punch combination assault, and when Clottey opens up to counter, Pac reloads before he can even get off. I can see Clottey doing some damage, that guy can fight...not enough damage though. Bar a KO victory for Clottey, I cant see him winning. KO victory being that if he lands something big on Pac and finishes him fast.
I see Pac giving Clottey angles that he won't be able to adjust to and tallying up the punch stats and outworking Clottey towards a wide UD victory. Pac will penetrate with enough punches to mark up Clottey and possibly hurt him on atleast one instance in the fight. Pac won't get through will all his blows, but enough to make an impression on the judges.
Clottey's guard is absolutely excellent. Still, I wouldn't mind seening some GIFs of Pacquiao hammering Cotto through, under, and around the guard as if he had his hands at his sides. Where are the GIF masters at?
Agreed, I'm still favouring a Pacquiao decision. I'm quite comfortable with that, I don't really see Clottey getting stopped but I can't see him getting too close to winning either.
Pacquiao will get around that **** with hooks, and straight through the middle. Clottey's body will really pay the price for the high guard. Trying to block punches is not how you beat someone as fast and unpredictable as Pacquiao. That's why they picked Clottey, his style is perfect for Pac.
Clottey carries a lot of muscle, and that will slow him down later in the fight. If Pac can take Clottey's punches, and keeps working that body, then there's a very good possibility that Clottey gets stopped late.
Clottey has good defense but the question is, will he be able to counter Pac or launch an attack? Because Pac is like an energizer and he won't stop punching. He only takes a breather for around 30-60 sec on a full fight and then relaunches again.
Pac averaged something like 65 or 70 punches a round against Cotto. That's a very good pace, but he's not a Margo or a PWill who throws a hundred punches a round. He definitely takes breaks.
This is what these fools don't understand. Pac averages around 70 punches a round. He is NOT an energizer bunny who throws non-stop. He's human.:scaredas: Clottey will have more than enough opportunities. And by the way, pac won't be the only one throwing punches.
Moderate success. And even if he does have more success, Clottey has a granite chin. He took 1,600+ shots from Margacheato and was never once stunned, let alone hurt. And that was probably with loaded gloves. Not to mention, he doesn't usually lunge in, creating additional power for his opponents. Also, Clottey is an underrated counter puncher. Not to mention, he can lead also. His hand speed is underrated. There is a reason why he was competitive against Margarito, Judah and Cotto. He's not pushover. I thought he beat Cotto and was dam near a draw with Margarito.
Sheesh...look at how low Pacquiao's hand was when he threw that left hand in the second part...De La Hoya could have caught him with the left hook.
