Where does this win elevate his already legendary ATG ranking?
I'd say at the very least Top 20-15.

I think both guys are already inside top 50 in most guy's books,,... And they are still active,,... They'd probably skyrocket to as high as top 15 to 20 if they retire without even fighting each other,,... I guess winner gets inside top 10,,...

I can see Pac getting in the top 30 if he wins.

    This sounds reasonable.

All this ATG ranking is all mythical and is not objective at all. People should not care about it because some people rate Sam Langford and Jack Johnson in their top 10 when clearly there are a lot better, more skilled fighters. You cant compare times thats why the ATG ranking is all bull****. All you can judge is their era. Pacquiao and Floyd are the best in their era and the winner should be rated as the best fighter of this era. All other things does not matter because you cant compare someone who fougt in the 1901 to the ones who fights in 2015 because logically head to head a boxer in 2015 kills someone from 1901 so all this ATG things are pure bull****

It depends on what you look at. If skills then I could pick far more than 10. Resume? Yes his resume is outstanding, but if we are talking about mythical fights like Langford vs Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, prime Bowe, Klitschko and so on? Those guys would murder him there really is no contest because they are so far more skillful than a fighter who fought 100 years ago because like all other sports boxing advances. Thats why you cant have an ATG list and people should be judged by the eras they fought in. Because all this ATG stuff is pure mythical and should be thrown in the garbage. Like I said it depends on what you look at when you rate the ATG myth. If we talk resume and how many fighters they fought then we should put all old fighters at the top and forget everyone else. But if skills? Do you really compare a Langford with someone like Lennox Lewis? Lennox would murder him head to head

In the modern era losses seem to count much more than in the past. Id say both are top 30

What usually gets looked at is what the guy actually did. Mythical fights don't usually factor into it.

In other words, who did he beat, how and when did he beat them, what was the calibre of his opponents, were there any unusual circumstances (injuries, weight issues, etc), did he jump weights, length of career, best wins etc.

Some (like myself) factor in to a greater or lesser degree the 'eye test' , how the guy looked in the ring.

Of course there is a degree of arbitrariness involved, as there is in many other ATG lists (best movies, best actors, greatest olympic athletes, greatest Presidents/Prime Mininisters, Generals) etc.

Marlon Brando is generally viewed as having been a greater actor than Keanu Reeves, and George Washington usually ranks higher than James Polk. But these are all judgment calls.

Most would agree that Joe Louis was greater than Primo Carnera and that Floyd Mayweather is greater than say, Zab Judah.

And while you wouldn't get universal agreement on these matters, it doesn't necessarily mean that ...
    or that

It is recognized that ATG lists are a matter of judgment, but that doesn't render them meaningless.

Any more that say, the oscars.

Pacqiauo is screwd either way, if he rushes in like the "old Pacqiauo" then hes going to get knocked out.

The new more patient Pacqiauo gets picked apart

pacquiao has so much more to gain... If a former Flyweight champion becomes the first to beat Floyd Mayweather, he firmly confirms himself in the Duran/Armstrong class, if he isn't there already...

Most people rate Henry Armstrong in their top 10, if Pac beats Mayweather and with everything else Manny has achieved he simply has to be rated alongside Armstrong
