I think a great approach for Pac when he announces his next fight is to call for a four man tournament with Pac vs. Marquez and Berto vs. Mosley, with the winners facing each other and the losers facing each other. There would be a lot of good benefits to this:

    1. It would finally settle the score with Marquez once and for all
    2. It will determine if Mosley has enough left to still be considered a world class fighter
    3. It will determine if Berto is the real thing and finally get him the high profile, marquee name he needs to improve his value
    4. The loser vs. loser fight would show whether even the runner ups are washed up or never were's.

Mosley dominating Berto would prove his worth to fight Pacquiao because it would show that he's not washed up, he just got beaten up by a far superior boxer in Mayweather.

Berto dominating Mosley might not prove that Berto is elite more than it would show that Margarito was probably an illusion, but it would get Berto the attention necessary to improve his market value enough to be worthy of Pac

If Marquez loses to Pacquiao, his performance against the loser of Berto/Mosley would show whether he's capable of anything at welterweight, which would go a long way to validating or invalidating Mayweather's and Pacquiao's performance against him.

If Berto loses to both Mosley and Marquez, it would show that he's always been a hype job and we'll be rid of him forever.

If Marquez wins the whole thing, it would show that Pacquiao really isn't on Mayweather's level without ever having to actually see them fight.

What are your thoughts? Would this be a good idea?

If Berto wouldn't have turned down a 60/40 deal to fight Mosley - most of this tournament would be over already. I say - let Berto wait his turn. He's been holding that belt hostage for about 3 years now - without fighting an elite Welterweight.

Now Cotto's moved on - Margarito's moved on - they never gave Collazo a rematch - he's never mention fighting Clottey - they're looking to fight Maidana (who's a 140 lber) - so on and so on. After seeing that HBO is actually getting tired of him fighting relatively unknown fighters and pulling money away from him - he's just now starting to call out names and look for quality opponents.

In his own words - he's already ate his appetizers - now he's ready for a full course meal. I want to see Berto fight any of the names above - with the exception of Maidana. If he wins - then I'll be ready to see him face Pac. What has he done to earn a shot before the others on the list?

It is great for the other guys and the fans...but what's Pacman's motivation...what's in it for him? Why would arum wanna help out gbp with marquez, diBella with berto ... only way this happens is if they all join top rank and make odl's desire for a dominant controlling promoter in the game a reality ... only he ain't it.

Well, all three of them are on Pac's list of finalists right now, so this doesn't presuppose a motivation that doesn't already exist. Additionally, because there are question marks about them all, having this tournament helps to remove some of the question marks. By the time the finals comes around, assuming Pacquiao makes it to the finals, whoever he fights will be much higher profiled, and with enough credibility to make it look intriguing.

What would be worth more to Pac? Fighting Berto now, or fighting Berto after Berto knocks out Mosley? Or vice-versa.
