Pac actually beat many opponents on the same level as JMM. Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Barrera, and Morales are definitely same level. It is just JMM has the right style for Pac. No way JMM runs through the same kind of competition Pac did.
Also add Agapito Sanchez: Rough housed Pacman - DRAW Nedal Hussein: Rough housed Pacman - 4th round saved by the Ref To be fair both fighters used dirty tactics & at that time Pacman was not able to walk through punches yet :yep
Just looked it up. He was 20, absolutely under-nourished, and totally raw. Of course you take into account circumstances, and then you CAN disregard certain fights. B.Hopkins lost his first fight. I couldn't disregard that anymore than I already do. Pacquiao, and any other fighter, is to be held accountable after he actually got adequate training and developed-world nutrition. Anyway you can hold him accountable, I don't mind. No boxing expert does, and neither do the majority of fans, and that's all that really matters.
He was a few months shy of his 21st birthday and he was already a world champion. So clearly he wasn't all that malnourished. Regardless, that fight still counts on his record. Therefore, it's perfectly acceptable to name Singsurat as one of Pacquiao's toughest fights. If a thread was asking to name all the fighters who beat Hopkins, it would be silly to get on a person who names Clinton Mitchell. Whatever you say buddy. All I know is that they announce Pacquiao as an 8 division champion. According to you though, he's only a 7 division champ as his fights from 112 on down don't count.
Drained or not drained, the fight still counts. Hearns was drained against Leonard in their first fight. Does that fight not count? You guys act like I'm saying those early losses prevent Pac from being a great fighter or something. I'm not, but they certainly do count.
barrera got smacked around for their 2 fights, he didn't have a chance. same with cotto after the 2nd kd. morales 1 and 2 was a tough fight for pac.
Margarito was Pacquiao most "dangerous" opponent . With His massive workrate and 165 pound size advantage , he could have very well walk threw Manny and stopped him at any point of the fight . But the "toughest" opponent besides Marquez , I would have to say is Morales .
Surprisingly, thats a good counter-argument. Well played. I still think it's being too pedantic to mention Singsurat as one of Pac's toughest competitor's and not to consider the wider circumstances, but I accept that you have a strong case.
So when Paci-OW fought other 3rd world opponents at 112 or less, and got KTFO were they under nourished too, or was it just him? Are we to assume that they came from wealthy families who had plenty of food?
