I have recently sat down and rewatched all 4 fights from this great rivalry, pacman V marquez. It just got me thinking back to the bar, barber shop and work place debates that went on after these truly great fights.

"Pacman brought the power and scored the knock downs so he won"

"Marquez counter punched in combination to the body and head so he won"

    How did you score it?

I had them all for Marquez and I attended the last three and the general consensus at those bouts is that Marquez deserved the win the third with the least amount of folks saying Pacquaio won.

    Fight I 114-111
    Fight II 115-112
    Fight III 116-112

I scored them all 8-4 for Marquez.

While I don’t remember my cards (maybe I will watch them over Thanksgiving?) I scored the first a draw, and II & III for JMM

I’ve got three quadrillogies and three trilogies on my to re-watch list hoping to squeeze them in soon.

    This and Marquez-Vazquez, Rodriguez-Griffith and Zaragoza-Banke, Gonzalez-Carbajal and Roman-Laciar.

Pretty sure I had the first a draw, which kind of annoys me because the only reason is because Pacquiao had such a strong first round. I don't like that a strong open by Pac essentially eliminated at least three rounds of great work by Marquez, but it is what it is.

The second and third fights I had Marquez narrowly winning, and the fourth was obviously solved by a Marquez right hand.

It’s funny I didn’t really expect much from Márquez going into fight 1 and was surprised at how he came back (regardless of how you scored it) and made this so competitive. I thought he would get stopped or lose a clear decision, instead he won me over and rose in my estimation considerably.

    Rd 1 PAC (pac 10-6)
    Rd 2 PAC (PAC 20-15)
    Rd 3 JMM (pac 29-25)
    Rd 4 JMM (pac 38-35)
    Rd 5 JMM (pac 47-45)
    Rd 6 JMM (pac 56-55)
    Rd 7 JMM (65-65)
    Rd 8 JMM (JMM 75-74)
    Rd 9 PAC (84-84)
    Rd 10 JMM (JMM 94-93)
    Rd 11 PAC (103-103)
    Rd 12 JMM (JMM 113-112)

I scored a draw on fight night but have no clue if I have the card in a box of stuff or if it is hopelessly lost?

Rounds 8-12 are very tight and enable a wide variance in cards. I scored it a draw on that night but in revisiting I feel JMM nipped it. A shame that all 3 had a measure of controversy (not robbery) as the fights themselves are great!

Marquez was the only one out of the two who managed to win three rounds straight in any of the fights and he did it in every fight except the fourth. He won 7 straight in fight I, 4 straight in fight II and 5 straight in fight III on my cards.

I'll have to rewatch the series but I remember having Pac winning fights 1 and 2 narrowly while having the 3rd fight a draw. All 3 matches, besides the 4th, were very tense and evenly matched and can be scored either way depending on whose work you prefer. Besides the first fight, where Marquez dominated the majority of the fight to even out the KDs, neither of them were in full control of the fight. They really were made for each other. Beautiful rivalry.

If the judges had given Pacquiao credit for 3rd knockdown he wins.....the second fight could have gone either way...the third fight i was rooting for Marquez and I still think Pacquiao won

The clearest is the third, with Marquez winning that with relative ease. I would love to sit next to someone who scored it for Pacquiao and make observations and debate the flow of punches. For the sake of history books, draws in the first two seem appropriate even if the majority of viewers routinely score them for Marquez.

People complain about no 10-6, but ignore that the ref missed a clear foul that should have been a point deduction from Pac in round one.
