Pacquiou whole reputation was built off of as the guy that could defeat Mayweather.

Ones that notion was established as not being the case, no one ever gave a **** about Pac, thus why Pac has been relegated to mere ESPN fighter while Mayweather continues to maintain his status as the king of combat sport main attraction.

Disagree and agree. Pac is a fine fighter in his own right but a lot of the hype he got was as the man who would beat pbf. When he failed most of his fans and the boxing world turned their backs to him. You know have him going life and death in Australia on ESPN against a guy like horn, who in his prime would have tooled. Sad really.

Whole reputation? Not true at all. His reputation was being built in his lower weight days, and his fights w/ Barrera, JMM, and Morales. That's what made him 'must see tv'. Your conclusion doesn't make much sense either.

He made more in one night against Mayweather than he did against the Mexican trio. Scratch that, than he did his whole career.

Fair point but a bit exaggerated, the reason people aren't interested in Pac anymore is because he's old and shot, not fully focussed on boxing, and has been fighting uninteresting opponents for over 2 years. No one wanted to see him fight Vargas, Bradley III, or Horn.

If he was still ambitious and was fighting Spence, Thurman, Brook, Crawford, etc., he'd still be a major ppv star if he didn't get KO'ed brutally by the above.

What a nonsense post. He already had a big following before the idea of him going up against Mayeather even came to the picture. His reputation at the lower weights was built as being this monster puncher with a fan friendly style, like an Asian Mike Tyson, fighting 3 Mexican ATGs. Everyone already knew who Pac was going into the de la Hoya fight as a heavy underdog because of his size. He defied all odds by jumping weights and it was only after beating Cotto that the idea of a potential fight with Mayweather came about.

Stop pretending that an ATG fighter like Pac had a whole career just revolving around Mayweather.

That's true and it proves my point, Mayweather also wouldn't be a big star now if he kept on fighting people like Berto, Vargas, Horn, Maidana III, etc.
