How many million plus PPVs did he sell prior to the Mayweather discussion?

Great numbers.....maybe not by Mayweather standard, but many fighters will die to sale that kind of numbers in ppvs.

Pacquiao had his first PPV fight before Mayweather had his and Pacquiaos first PPV also sold more than Mayweathers. Pacquiao became an attraction by being one of the most exciting fighters to watch of his generation.

He's had plenty of fights on PPV, 2 fights that gained a million plus PPV buys with De la Hoya and Cotto before Mayeather was being talked about. Youre mistaking reputation for money.

This notion about Mannys whole reputation as this potential guy to beat Mayweather is becoming over exaggerated that was only built up by the Pac fans and casual fans after he beat up Cotto. It was only building up more when the Mayweather fight was being stalled for years. Before he fought de la Hoya nobody would have thought that fight would even be possible.

Oh good. A thread for the "special" posters to hang out in today. This keeps them occupied while the adults are talking boxing.

Anyone unless the most blinded Pacman fans always knew he was way too small to be a danger to Floyd.

No he then went on to fight conor next in a ppv record and live gate record fight. He still got a 100 million plus payday without pac.

It would have counted if Pac fought McGregor though, right boxing_master?

The reality is we are talking about Pac and May being draws in boxing world may vs connor doesn't count because it brought in the mma fan base and dumb casuals

In terms of both may and pac being draws in boxing after their fight they lost a lot of their drawing power in boxing.

I wouldn't say his "whole" reputation but definitely the peak of it.

The way I saw it was people kept buying their PPVs in the hope they would eventually fight each other. When they did Pac lost and so people didn't see a need to buy his PPVs anymore. When Floyd won it confirmed there was no one else that could potentially beat him so they lost interest in him as well.

nope. a lot stopped believing in the sport anymore because it exposed the corruption big time and nothing happened. Those non-disclosure agreements have hidden so much malpractice that it is now impossible to punish the cash cows even if their cheating is blatant. the sport has become a money making business that wins are not credible anymore and people just watch for entertainment and not so much on appreciating genuine display of fighting hearts and skills.
