Exactly! One fighter can take punches coming with speed and not be derailed...... .....but fall like a ton of bricks with a slow moving shot that has mass behind it..... Fighters react differently to different type and style punches.
have there been any measurements of punch power at different weights? Hattons punch was measured: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6228040.stm but would be interesting to see a good sample from different weights. granted hitting a machine is not hitting a person.
Classic thread To be brutally frank however, I'm not at all surprised to hear this. For one; anyone who has ever seen Pacquiao hit anything live and in the flesh wouldn't be capable of easily questioning this. Manny can generate such speed and power you would think it should be illegal that this man is allowed to hit people under any circumstances (no hype) - because it should be ****ing illegal. Also; the bigger guys Harrak has worked with wouldn't have hit him with their best stuff - that's for the smaller (allegedly) less powerful guys like Pacquiao. Manny must have given this kid the benefit of a full course serving. Possibly the first heavy shot, or the fist shot itself is what he's talking about. Point taken by some here, however, (and it's a question of my own) regarding how Pacquiao's punches seem to effect the opposition in actual fights. There's just a very big difference between the damage Manny can cause when he's coming forward off those rock hard calves of his with a full running left, and the 'Roach style' punches he has had to favor at this stage in his career.
Maybe it felt harder because it hurt him more, 'cause he didnt see the punch coming. At least with bigger, heavier handed but slower boxers, you can roll with the punches or brace yourself because you can see the punch coming.
This content is protected Look at this ****. You can just feel that he's gonna throw that killer left straight like a lightning bolt in a split second. I just wanted to post this, I like this picture a lot. I'd make it a poster if I could.
