Anyone who doesnt think fighting David Diaz is a bull**** move on Pac's part is pretty delusional. This is the same David Diaz who was losing BIGTIME to Santa Cruz before he threw a lucky punch in the 10th, and escaped with a dubious hometown decision against a FADED AS HELL Erik Morales that Pac KO'd in 3 rounds 10 months earlier. The ONLY saving grace is if he fights Juan Diaz afterwards in a Lightwieght Unification fight...but he won't beat the Baby Bull. No way, no how. So let's recap...never won a title at 130lbs and avoided three champs in that division (JMM, Guzman, and Valero). The only people of note that he fought at 130 were Erik Morales (x3) who was faded as hell the second two times (notice how the fresher Morales beat Pac the first time) and a retiring MAB whom he had already beat at 126 when MAB was much closer to his prime. That doesn't prove ANYTHING to me to say that Pac is a champ at 130. The only real impressive wins on his record are the 2003 destruction of Barerra and the second Morales victory. Period. He needs to beat JMM and Guzman to get any credit at all from me, and I don't think he would beat them. As for Valero...Pac would beat Valero but what's the point? I never realized it until writing this post but at this point, Pac has not secured himself much of a legacy. I mean Zahir Raheem beat the Erik Morales the Pac beat twice. Big ****in deal. As a fan of Pac's all action style, I am deeply dissapointed by the path his career appears to be taking. I recall Jermain Taylor getting a TON of **** for saying he would fight whoever brought the most money, instead of the most worthy contender. So much **** in fact, that he did fight the #1 contender and got KTFO. Pac's avoiding Champions (one of which he drew with and the other of which his trainer Freddie Roach admitted had the style to beat Pac) and he doesn't get called on it. I think Pac is cool as ****, but it seems pretty ****ed to me...is there something I'm missing here?
I agree mostly. Ive never seen pac as the no1 p4p but once he beat morales I admitted that he was the best at 130 (although, morales was shot & I believe would hand pac a boxing lesson prime v prime much like fight 1) but he did beat a good barrera 1st time around but he should clean up at 130 before attempting 135.
Is anyone gonna rail me on this or is it too cut and dry? I expected to at least be called a *** or told to **** off by now... On a sidenote, I like Pac as much as the next guy, it just sucks that it came down to having to write this bulletin to make sure I'm not on Crazy Pills...
I didn't "hate" at any point in my analysis and am certainly not a Pac hater. I'm still buying Pac-Diaz and rooting for Pac all the way. This hater **** is getting out of control. It is mererly a gathering of facts that is bothersome to me, the boxing fan.
you're saying Pacquiao avoided Valero, and then call yourself a fan. You're a hater, just too dilusional to notice it.
I don't actually think Pac should fight Valero...he would beat Valero and for too little money. I mainly meant JMM and Guzman so if you could focus on the other 99% of the post instead of the Valero part (who was the third listed by the way and I have ZERO personal bias towards...I've barely even seen him fight...) that would be nice. Again...not a hater, I just like it when the right fight gets made for boxing.
you are disapponted, i am disappointed and we are all disapppointed. but we can't do anything but just bash on pacquiao or wait until his next fight.
Extremly dissapointed in Pac, it looks like the most important thing for him at this point is winning, no matter who he fights as long as he is winning his die-hard fans will be with him but in terms of legacy he is making bad moves. The 130lb division is not secured, JMM or Guzman will come out as kings of 130 and he must beat Juan Diaz to be the king of 135lbs.
it's only natural that fans are pissed, as is the case when bigname fighters fight opponents not on par to their class. earlier this year calzaghe fans were in an up roar when he chose to fight manfredo. i'm a big pacman fan, and i'm dissapointed in his decision to target diaz. but if this is just a 'test the waters' fight for a eventual showdown with diaz at 135, then fans should'nt be to upset about it. calzaghe fans forgot the manfredo debacle, when the kessler fight was made. i'd be majorly pissed if pac elected to fight casa if he gets through diaz.
I'm highly disappointed. Why the **** is he fighting David Diaz again? Pacquiao seems to have resorted to the PBF tried-and-true method of cherrypicking your way through weight classes. Seriously, if he's only gonna fight two or three live bodies per division before he moves up, what's the point? I bet Pacquiao could beat ONE guy in every weight class up through super middle, if not higher. He hasn't even fought a ****ing beltholder at 130 yet, when there are four of them.
If I were Arum, I would indeed advise Pac to settle for D.Diaz now before Pac is finally named mandatory for JMM. Keeping his fighters' stock up, sustaining their market value, is probably every manager's game. So with so many big names to choose from for another big-money fight, try and avoid the really high-risk ones. Not JMM -- let him grow older first. Not Guzman -- Roach says his style is bad news. Not Valero -- MAB says this is the man who'll beat Pac. Now, D.Diaz is also a decent beltholder. Just good business sense, based on the premise that these beltholders all need Pac more than he needs any of them. Let's have cherry pickings while we can.
i feel your pain ***get. your boi aint gettin the biggest payday of his life... he might wanna consider going back to indosenia and rematch chris john, they might wanna give him a 100k. :yep
