When is the last time Pac's next opponent was this secret?

I really want to believe that he's going to be fighting Mayweather.

There are a couple of reason I started to believe this:

    1. Mayweather did say he wants to fight again this year - yet we've heard nothing about him since getting out.

    2. Manny already had a November date and moved it back to Dec - that in it's self was strange. When is the last time he moved a date and then was unsure if he wanted that date as well?

    3. They are all over place with opponent - Cotto, Marquez, Bradley. Cotto's out of the picture - Marquez is voicing his opinions about other fights he would like - Bradley started talking, then you heard nothing from him.

    4. 50 Cent and Arum have been having positive discussions and Golden Boy Promotions haven't bad mouth them about it.

    5. With Pac not looking that good in his last 2 fights - it's about time that Top Rank cashed in before the worst actually does happen (Manny losing real bad).

    6. This is one of the first times in a long time that Pac is making a fight and Mayweather's name isn't mentioned or attached at all.

Most of what I stated were facts - but my opinion is that Pac fights Mayweather. What he's been doing with this opponent selection seems like a ploy to surprise us with the fight we've been wanting - like a Xmas gift.

If Mayweather is not the next opponent - then I'll like to see the Marquez fight. Regardless of the outcome - they always have entertaining fights. Nothing against Bradley - but I believe Marquez deserves it more.

    Best senerio - we get:
    Pac vs. Mayweather
    Marquez vs. Bradley

    And a week before that:
    Trout vs. Cotto

    I can dream can't I?

all interesting points, i figured when one fighter looked spent the fight would happen to get the final cash out

seems possible, Arum doesnt have to worry about Manny losing cause he will cash in a last time, if Manny wins he could have a rematch and maximize

Nowhere near enough time to hype " the biggest fight of all time ". Not that it is anymore, that ship sailed long ago.

Maybe not but sell it they will do if it ever happens, which i doubt. I hope he does fight Mayweather in december but he wont.

It's not Floyd. (This is certain)
Arum needs to replace his cash cow before he kills the old one.

^IF Chavez wins on Sat, Then Arum feeds Manny to Mayweather.
(Only then tho... No other scenario)

I believe that there are talks with the Mayweather camp for this 12/8 date. I don't believe there is any chance in hell that Pacquiao goes to Mexico to fight Marquez nor do I believe that Pacquiao will cut his purse to give Marquez and Bradley the 8-10 million that they are looking for. The PPV numbers will be around a million for both fights, Arum isn't taking a cut off his pay, so that leaves Manny to be generous and shave 5 million off of his purse to make the fight happen. Why should be do this when he could make 10-15 million more than his usual to fight Money May? Not to mention the very serious possibility that he could lose to JMM and/or Bradley.

Mayweather is always quiet when fights are being negotiated and they usually come as a surprise when they are announced. There seems to be some artificial tension between him and 50 and I know TMT supposedly has a 11/17 fight locked in that they haven't announced yet. Could this be part of a much larger announcement?

Arum surely doesn't want any attention away from Saturday's big fight so that explains the secrecy, no matter who the opponent is.

Should be an interesting week ahead. :smoke

I have had a feeling that Mayweather and Pacquaio may be in 'secret' negotiations, it would make sense on many levels for the two to fight and the more open negotiations hardly worked out well. Maybe I'm putting 2 and 2 together to make 5 just because both are looking for opponents at the moment

With everyone being so hush hush about opponent - it sure seems like a Mayweather type of way to go about business.

I just can't remember Pac or Arum ever doing this with opponents.

Guess we have another day of waiting - since they said Pac would make an announcement on Wed.
