Are Pac's hands and footwork faster than either Judah or Mosley? That seems to be the main reason people are favoring Pac, but Cotto handled himself just fine against opponents faster than him. your thoughts?
Faster than Shane yes but not Zab but his footwork is probably faster than all. IMO Zab throws a faster one shot than Pac can.
I think Zab might actually have quicker hands but its close, his upper body movement and his footwork really make him tuff to catch, However, counter punchers have always given Manny problems and Cotto can counter punch.
judah has the best handspeed in boxing right now but pac will use his speed more than zab did because hes not an idiot.
I agree. Zab looks great the first few rounds then, I don't know what happens. plus zab likes to counter more than Pac. But Cotto has seen fast fighters before is my point to this thread, so i think he will be able to cope with Pac's speed also.
woo hoo! good work boys! zab is getting some ****ing respect. zab has faster hands and likely, equal footspeed to pac. mosley is just behind both in both areas
Judah has better handspeed, I don't think it's very debatable. Watch the first rounds against Tszyu and Cotto for proof...his one-shot handspeed is ridiculous. However, he's an inactive counterpuncher who doesn't like being hit, so it's wasted on him. Pac probably has the fastest feet in boxing to go with his handspeed, that's what makes him so dangerous.
good post pac puts his punches together better but for 1, 2 or 3 shots it's all zab. if he didn't have his head up his ass i'd honestly wager he'd take out pac by late round tko only if...
judah is extremely fast for 1-2 to 3 hits combinations. pac is faster in balancing himself to continuously firing punches. different speed.
I'd say Zab is the fastest in terms of 1 punch speed, but his problem is sometimes he goes into long stretches of inactivity, liking to wait and counter. Pac brings speed alright, but unlike Zab he also brings tremendous amounts of activity (throws a lot of punches and just keeps on moving) and various angles along with the speed. It's those additional things that he brings that I think will trouble Cotto. When Zab fought Cotto, for most of the fight Zab was just waiting to counter Cotto with his left. Sure enough, because of how quick Zab was he was able to counter Cotto with some real hard shots that wobbled Cotto, but for the rest of the fight he was just waiting and letting Cotto get in and just batter his body. Cotto is just a consistent fighter (except against Clottey), he works at a pace that's pretty much consistent the whole fight. So eventually that steady pace just broke down Zab who was just waiting to counter. It was sort of a similar story with Shane, Shane was just looking to land those huge power shots against Cotto and wasn't nearly active enough. He certainly had the speed to land those power shots, but Cotto took them pretty well. By the time Shane became more active and stopped just trying to land bombs Cotto had already a significant lead and it was too little to late. Again, Cotto was pretty much working at a steady pace until the last few rounds. I don't know if both fights were cases of Zab and Shane just having the wrong gameplan or if somehow, Cotto's power and tenacity made them hesitant to be more active but IMO i just think they had the wrong gameplan. Hopefully, it won't be the case with Pacquiao, I just don't see Pacquiao being inactive, it's not just his style so he will be constantly using his speed to try to land combinations from various angles. That's what I think he will do that Cotto's never seen before. Cotto's seen speed before, but not speed used the way Pacquiao does. At least I hope that's the case.
yeah, zab has handspeed is crazy but pac is almost there. and what make pac so great is not just the speed but the angles and his punch volume, not just speed.
