Oscar's bigger and stronger... But how do people see the last 6 rounds going? Won't the size difference go out of the window as Oscar starts to gas, whilst Pac is still fighting at an intense pace?
But with the extra 12 pounds will the work rate not be there for Manny? remember he has to carry this extra weight with him during the fight, and that alone can be too much, it will damper his speed somewhat and his power. I was watching that 24/7 series and let me say this, Roach is telling alot of lies about the way things go down in that gym. I know for a fact clearly he is trying to get in Oscars head. it wont work though, I think this is going to be a great fight early on but around the 5th round its either all DLH or All Pac, there will be no close fight from the 5th on. I think Manny is getting knocked out in this one and badly, I hope I am wrong becuase Oscar is a chump for taking this fight, but Honestly DLH has knocked out guys from 135-154 he can hit. The key for DLH in this fight, will be the Right upper cut left hook
Altough Oscar's stamina might be weaker,at 147 both their stamina's might be affected, more so Pacquiao's cuz he is going up 12 lbs.Question is...will he get in the final 6 rounds?
That's what makes the fight interesting. Oscar probably wants to take Manny out before it gets that far... but if he works too hard to get the KO he runs the risk of really gassing out in the late rounds. And your right there... size and strength, and to some extent even technical skill goes out the window if a guy gets truely gassed. (See Wlad Klitschko)
I think Pacman' stamina is far superior, but with all the 'ifs - buts and maybes' this fight brings it is a difficult question to answer. The only way Pacman wins this one is by using the entire ring - sort of like what Cotto tried on "Tony" (successfully for 6 rounds). But I don't think Pacman has ever done this type of thing before - hit and run that is. I'd like to see him win because De la Hoya is starting to irk me a little - cannot put my finger on it. But I think De la Hoya overpowers Pacquiao.
I know it has absolutely no relevance, but I had a dream last night that from the first punch, it was clear that Pacquiao couldn't take the power, and he was knocked out in the first. I think Oscar will come out hard and try to avoid going to the late rounds. But if it does go there, Pacquiao will clearly have the upper-hand. It's a question of whether he won enough rounds early to win the fight.
pac's stamina is far better than dela hoya's, but still untested at 147. the size difference will still be the factor and not the stamina, imo.
Pac's stamina won't mean much after he eats a couple of punches from a guy who is naturally about 25 lbs heavier and half a foot taller.
:yep seriously, some people actually think pac-man can outlast dlh. for you to expect a man who started out at 106 lbs to be able to take punches from somebody as big as dlh is ridiculous.
and do u really believe dlh belonged at 130? thats why they were calling him chicken dlh, becasue he was alot bigger then the guys he was fighting. dlh is even large for a welter. now pac-man was probably to bigger then 106 but the diffence in size is pretty large.
Do you really think Pacquiao belongs ANYWHERE near 106? Remember, he was about 16 years old. He also got knocked out twice at 112, which shows he was weight drained even there! Don't sit there and complain about people saying Oscar started at 130, and then say Pac started at 106 when Pacquiao was a toddler who was severely weight-drained even at 112. It works both ways. And yes, the difference in size IS large. Of course it is! But Pacquiao does have advantages in this fight as well. I.e. A past his prime Oscar is cutting down to a weight he hasn't fought at since he fought Gatti. Size will be a factor, but not as big a factor as most are suggesting.
