Many say that Pac's rise through weight classes was b/c of vast improvements since rising from the 130lbs. I disagree, while he may have very well improved, it is simply a testament to a welterweight era that rivals the welterweights of the late 70s- 4 truly all time great fighters, all facing each other in epic fights (although the welters had 5 atgs, if Hamed had only stuck around a bit longer...sigh).

The great featherweights of the era: JMM, Pac, Morales, MAB at that time were much greater fighters POUND FOR POUND than the fighters Pacquaio faced rising up in weight Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Diaz, Hatton- and in my opinion Pac's success in evidence of this.

For all the Pac VS PBF, this is the one thing people don't realize. The class of 2000s Featherweight is one of the best of all time, - Morales, MAB, JMM, and Pac. Not to mention competitors like Junior Jones, Hamed, Soto, Avila, Guzman, etc.

Thanks for the responses. That era was special. Skill, talent, heart, and ability wise Pac can deal with anyone since the 126-130 lb guys he fought were so much better, although the size difference is impressive. That he went 5-1-1 against this killers row is ridic.

Also, Pac fans shouldn't get all uptight when someone mentions trouble with JMM and Morales and dismiss those fighters' good moments by saying "oh well Pac has just Improved so much, he wasn't prime." What would a 140-147 lb version of Morales, MAB, JMM do to Cotto, Margo, Clottey, Hatton? They would dominate, but Pac has an amazing ability to adapt physically and overcome the size disparity that those guys don't. he fought in an atg erA, he was bound to take a loss or draw, and overall he's come out on top anyway.

Check out the black murderers row, or the 70s heavyweights, welters of the late 70s, those guys were bound to lose no matter how good they were bc the competition was otherworldly.

I think theyre great for sure. But also retaining the speed and power moving up is just as important because those same great featherweights couldnt do what Pac has done.

Yeah this is true, Morales and JMM are a much higher caliber of skill than these guys. I was watching some of the Morales fight today and his defense is so underrated, yeah he trades when he gets hit but the majority of the round he is using excellent movement, timing and blocking.
