My point was that even though it was a title fight, it was not PPV worthy...should have been a free fight.

DLH vs Pac was supposedly a dream match-up...very few fighters are willing to make those...the match-up alone was worth the money. I wish more promoters and fighters made match-ups like that but unfortunately most people consider the belts to be the determining factor for a big fight.

So by you're logic, why would you consider the Floyd vs JMM fight to be of greater importance and a much more valid fight than DLH/Pac? No belts were on the line and it was a huge mismatch. Kind of like what you're complaining about.

De La Hoya got just a bit flabby to fight at 154 . All he had to do was lose some fat.

Granted, Oscar looked emaciated. He was definitely not at full strength. But he signed the contract and being the competitor that he is must have thought he could win.....and Pac came and embarrassed him. Tough way for a proud champ to lose, but that's boxing.

I agree. It should be stricken, this fight hurt PACs legacy more than it helped it, it seemed. Imagine if we just saw the destruction of Hatton and the toying of Cotto? Heck hed be top 10 ATG.

Did it hurt the legacy of Marciano by knocking out an over the hill Joe Louis? Absolutely not.

That's absurd. Considering the chin of Oscar, how could the first man to make DLH quit on his stool hurt your legacy. I think everyone is forgetting that DLH is a first ballot HOF fighter.

This is ridiculous. First of all, every great fighter has beaten someone who was supposedly "over the hill". I will admit that the Oscar that Pacquiao beat was nowhere near his prime, I do think he had a little something left, but Pacquiao's speed just overwhelmed him. People are acting like Oscar was a walking corpse...sheesh.

    :good yeah i agree.

the oscar that fought pac would have gone the full 12 with cotto or any other fighter at 147. if hatton had made the leap to fight oscar he probably would have lost a decision.

I agree, very good win for Pac but not great. Old fighters should be given a free pass on their last fight/fights and be remembered for their prime years.
