how many champs or contenders have been caught using padded wraps(of any type of special tape or plaster or whatever) on their hands? how many have been accused but never proven?

Of Course Jess Willard always accused Dempsey of Foul Play in the Loaded Gloves Dept, apparently he kept a bolt in a box, whch was found in the ring after his defeat a maintained that it was quickly retreived from Dempsey's (right ?) glove and discarded at the bouts end. Certainly Jess found it hard to belive he could suffer such injuries from Legitermalely gloved fists.

In the sixties, arising from this Boxing llustrated did an article where they wrapped Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams Hands in actual plaster of Paris, the dried Plaster, after a Big Cat session on the heavy Bag, Powdered to a large degree, and the opinion was that, in such circumstances, the Fighters fists were more at risk of injury than the opponent.

Not sure what Fitz was using for his rematch with Jeff. Whatever it was, he took them off and tossed them into the crowd after the match. Jeff heard that Fitz was going to somehow load his fists prior to that second bout, and didn't care. Maybe he would have thought better of it if he'd known how Fitz would carve him up, but Jeff was a major badass. (Ditto Fitz.)
