Do you think there are any boxers in Australia who have padded records? Or do you think the ones that look padded on paper are only a result of sheer bad luck?
I'm going to wait and see what Kegsy actually writes about the '2 WA fighters' before jumping to too many conclusions.
Chad Bennett last night won the WBO Oriental Light Welterweight title by KOing Sakaorat in the 4th round. Sakaorat has now had 8 fights outside Thailand for 8 KO losses.
come on give Chad a break will you... you have to be at the fights to have a valid opnion, just ask Leon, Sakaorat is a beast, he has just had an unfortunate run of BAD LUCK! hahahahahahahaaa
UPDATE: Peter Kazzi lost his rematch with Chokchana Sithkrupon by UD today on the Soliman v Wood undercard.

Joel Brunker Won 21 (KO 13) + Lost 0 (KO 0) Opponents Records: 182-139-23 - 344 Opponents Winning %: 52.91% Best Wins: Adonis Aguelo (15-6-1) Reynaldo Belandres (16-2-2) Flash Villacura (23-22-2) Number 1 Ranked Contender In Australian (ANBF) Featherweight Division. Brunker is a solid Australian boxer who despite his impressive looking undefeated record on paper, is still in my opinion no where near any sort of world contender in the Featherweight division. While other boxers of similar age, amount of fights (Example: Will Tomlinson), have stepped their game up & actually beaten a fringe contender or 2 as you should, Brunker has still not fought anyone probably inside the top 40 or 50 at Featherweight. Brunker was put in slightly softer than perhaps he should have been in his 1st 9 fights, with his best win coming against the tough honest durable journeyman, who always goes rounds in Filo Flash Villacura. Brunker then went on to win the Australian FeatherweightTitle against limited Aussie Ernie Gonzales Jr. Brunker wasted the majority of 2009 & 2010 really not raising the level in competition fighting mainly mediocre imported Asian's & some poorer Billy Dib leftovers. In Brunker's last 2 fights of 2011 against solid journeyman opposition, Brunker has found the going really tough barely getting past Filo's Reynaldo Belandres & Adonis Aguelo who both aint even ranked in the top 10 of the Philipines Featherweight Rankings. A long way to go to still even get close to be considered a true contender. NEXT: vs Matt Powell (12-7-2) on 2nd March in Mansfield, Queensland - Untelevised

Heath Ellis Won 14 (KO 7) + Lost 3 (KO 1) + Drawn 1 Opponents Records: 158-175-14 - 347 Opponents Winning %: 45.53% Best Wins: Benny Horra (9-16-2), Aswin Cabuy (11-12-1) & Jakkirt Suwannalirt (15-12-1) Losses: Patomsuk Pathompothong (12-1-1), Steven Maxwell (6-3) & Junmar Dulog (4-10-1) Draw: Jun Paderna (11-9-2) Number 6 Ranked Contender In Australian (ANBF) Light Middleweight Division. Heath Ellis throughout his professional career has basically only beaten Australians with sub .500 records or undersize imports from Asia blowing themselves way up in weight. Ellis started his career slowly & steadily winning his 1st 7 bouts & building his record up nicely it seemed. Ellis's career was then derailed as he lost to the tough, but undersized journeyman Filo in Junmar Dulog in his 8th contest. Ellis in his next bout went on & got a lucky draw against another undersize journeyman Filo in Jun Paderna. Since the issues in those previous 2 bouts, Ellis has fought many terrible undersize Asian imports particular from Thailand, padding his record up considerably. Ellis decided in 2010 after 2 years of fighting cannon fodder, he would take a slight step up & fight an Aussie for a change, Steven Maxwell. Maxwell is a tough honest Australian boxer, something Ellis couldnt handle at all & was stopped in 4 rounds. Since the loss to Maxwell, Ellis went back to fighting his usual cannon fodder & even lost in his last outing to 140 pound Thai Patomsuk Pathompothong. Pathompothong actually went up 2 weight classes to Light Middleweight & beat Ellis funnily enough. NEXT: TBA

Mark DeMori Won 17 (KO 15) + Lost 1 (KO 1) + Drawn 2 Opponents Records: 134-112-14 - 260 Opponents Winning %: 51.54% Best Wins: Dominique Alexander (21-12-1) Jason Barnett (10-9) Ed Mahone (24-8-2) Loss: John Wyborn (15-19-4) Draws: Elisara Sii Uta (9-6) Alex Leapai (Debut) Unranked In Australian (ANBF) Heavyweight Division. Mark DeMori is an Australian heavyweight who unfortuntely hasnt fought the big fights he has been craving for, due to many factors including pull outs of numerous opponents just about each & every fight, & promises that were never met from his promoter Don King. In my opinion Mark made a huge mistake signing with Don King, which has led to DeMori fighting sporadically in recent years & really wasting away some good years. DeMori in his 1st 7 bouts took it fairly softly as most heavyweights do. He had an all out brawl, which ended up a draw with then debutant Alex Leapai in his 6th professional bout though. Many have seen how far Leapai has come since, so looking back this was a solid performance by DeMori at the time. DeMori's career was derailed in his 8th pro fight, as he was KO'd in the 1st round by Aussie journeyman John "Digger" Wyborn. DeMori for the next 3 yrs (2005-2007) had some time off & numerous soft victories to pad his record up. DeMori did have 1 blip along the way with a draw in NZ to journeyman Elisara Sii Uta. Finally in 2008, DeMori did take on & defeat a boxer of some note in fringe US Heavyweight Ed Mahone, who had however been stopped in 3 of his past 4 outings. DeMori wasted the slight momentum he had for the rest of 2008 & 2009 beating 3 obese heavyweights & then finally came back to the ring in 2011 stopping another US journeyman, Dominique Alexander. Considering like i had said earlier about Haumono, with the likes of Chisora with less bouts stepping up to fight the Klitschko's, DeMori has to really step up & face the top regional Heavyweights in Australia or better yet risk taking a B side opportunity to get a potential big fight shot. DeMori is back against 42 year old Rob Calloway who is very long in the tooth to say the least. NEXT: vs Rob Calloway (71-13-2) on 17th March in Gladstone, Queensland - Untelevised.
This content is protected 2. Daniel Iannazzo Won 20 (KO 7) + Lost 1 (KO 0) Opponents Records: 119-106-22 - 247 Opponents Winning %: 48.18% Best Wins: Rivo Rengkung (29-9-5) Flash Villacura (23-23-2) Roberto Lerio (9-5-1) Loss: Allan Jay Tuniacao (0-2-5) Number 1 Ranked Contender In Australian (ANBF) Super Bantamweight Division. Daniel Iannazzo is a name which alot of people would have forgotten when thinking about padded records. Iannazzo unfortunately is in a weight class where there aint many active Australian boxers. Still when looking at his record its staggering who he has fought to get to this glossy 20-1 record. Even some of the most astute boxing experts would not have heard of Iannazzo's numerous obscure Asian opposition. In Iannazzo's 1st 7 bouts, he started slowly getting some rounds in against fellow novices. A solid win against durable journeyman Filo Roberto Lerio, culminated in Iannazzo winning the Australian Super Bantamweight Title vs the winless Kartu Arang. Since winning the Australian Title, Iannazzo fought some terrible Asian opposition in 2008 & 2009, many containing fake records & others who had never won fights in years. The only decent win in a 3 year stretch to 2010 was Iannazzo barely scraping past journeyman Filo Flash Villacura. Iannazzo suffered his only defeat to date in 2010 against the then winless, but tough Filo Allan Jay Tuniacao. Since the loss Iannazzo went back to do what he does best, beat some more obscure Asian opposition. When we see Iannazzo step up & fight someone in the top 50 at Super Bantamweight, may very well be never at this rate. NEXT: TBA

Daniel Dawson Won 37 (KO 24) + Lost 3 (KO 1) + Drawn 1 Opponents Records: 431-201-31 - 663 Opponents Winning %: 65.01% Best Wins: Jason LeHoullier (21-4-1) Anton Solopov (16-1-1) Josh Clenshaw x2 (23-12) Losses: Frank LoPorto (12-4-2) Serhiy Dzinziruk (36-0) Daniel Geale (17-0) Draw: Virgil Kalakoda (24-6-2) Number 2 Ranked Contender In Australian (ANBF) Light Middleweight Division. When a discussion is brought up about active Australian boxers with padded records, Daniel Dawson is always 1 of the 1st names mentioned. Dawson has an incredible looking record on paper of 37-3-1, better than many a boxer you will see involved in top fights in the US on HBO & Showtime or in Europe on a Sauerland or Frank W arren card, its just too bad he is no where near a top 30 level boxer. When putting this list together a key criteria for me was opposition the boxer fought & beat. Dawson got his record up to 28-0 after being a pro boxer for 5 years. In those 1st 28 bouts his best wins included Aussie journeyman Josh Clenshaw (twice) & Ian McLeod. The majortiy of the rest of his record through 28 bouts is filled with numerous undersize imports from Asia & Australians with sub .500 records. In Dawson's 29th bout, to his credit he probably got his biggest win of his career against Russian Anton Solopov. Dawson finally stepped up to at least become a fringe worldwide contender. This sprung Dawson into the biggest fight of his career against 2002 Commonwealth Gold Medallist & 17-0 prospect Daniel Geale for the Vacant IBO Middleweight Title. Dawson was exposed severely & totally outclassed in a shutout win for Geale. Dawson came back in 2008 & 2009 with 5 wins all at home in WA against woeful undersize imported opposition from Asia, Africa & South America. Dawson went from fighting this cannon fodder to challenge Serhiy Dzinziruk for the WBO Light Middleweight Title in the US. If people thought Dawson was taught a lesson against Geale, well they should see the Dzinziruk bout. It was a complete annihilation where Americans were wondering who Dawson had actually fought to get such a glossy record. Dawson returned to Australia & then lost his 3rd bout immediately to the durable, but very limited Aussie Frank LoPorto. In late 2010 Dawson did gain a solid win against American Jason LeHoullier who was on a downhill slide when Dawson got to him. In his last 3 bouts Dawson has struggled greatly scraping by natural 140 pounder, Filo Arnel Tinampay & gaining a draw & hometown decision win against South African journeyman Virgil Kalakoda. Dawson wants 1 last payday against Anthony Mundine or the like, which he may get & probably take a hiding in doing so. You will struggle to find too many records more padded worldwide than Dawson's. NEXT: TBA
Heath Ellis probably has a bigger collection of belts than Mike Tyson. But to my knowledge he's never beaten a reigning champion in 'winning' them and the guys he's fought in acquiring the belts were mostly mismatched fighters on losing runs. Pity really, because when Heath beat Brian Fogarty in impressive style in only his 6th fight he looked like he could be anything.
