paddy monaghan greatest middleweight ever

I don't know to much about the scene really, i was once offered as a 13 year old by a guy called David Cranston (Ex Pro) a chance to fight bareknuckle in Croydon to prepare me for Am fights :-(. ****ing idiot got told no i'm a boxer.

Bumping this thread after a phone call with my uncle who mentioned this thread, He told me how the fight went in detail with Monaghan and admitted to being stopped by ref in 8th. He said the fight wasn't for the BKB title but Paddy was champion he said he had a few more fights after fighting Paddy.

He said he has no reason to lie about Paddy nor the record and said since he knew him he never lost a fight. He said people are entitled to believe he did or didn't but just keep it respectful as some have gone a bit to far from what he said.

Personally as i said to my uncle i found the record hard to believe and still maintain it's a hard feat to achieve and he understood what i was saying. He said remember some opponents were a lot better then others like you get in boxing but levels were lot different obviously but the stuff about video camera's not being allowed into fights are true.

He explained and it did make sense and why Shaw/McLean had camera's was because they had gloves on. Bareknuckle fights weren't filmed unless the promoter did it and Tommy Heard did film some fights but they were lost.

From my POV as i said before my uncle has no reason to lie, As for rest of record that's up to people's opinions but my uncle can vouch for the later part of his career. Paddy's last fight my uncle was there and he fought a Welshman who bit part of his nose off. My uncle said you can see this from scars around the nose he said he beat the fella even with his nose bit off .

So least that brings some knowledgeable input into the thread :good.

Nah in all seriousness a lot of that sorta stuff is probably why he's had fella's going on his fb threatening him or winding him up (Monaghan that is). It doesn't help him even if he was pals with Bobby. Just looking at it from a outsiders POV. Really as my uncle rightly said people are entitled to opinions and it's a grey area. People will believe what they want to and many have created stories which makes Paddy's life hard.

My Uncle's good pals with him after the fight and said only reason he didn't carry on was due to constant injuries. The two remain close mates and i think someone/people have been creating problems on his facebook page and someone told my uncle of these threads.

He's got a film currently in production called 'Rough Diamond' i'm sure there will be more threads/debates like this in near future.

Edit: BTW i'm not taking back anything i've said in this thread. Were all entitled to be skeptical of things like this but obviously having someone who's known and fought the man sways judgement a bit.

 

It definately sounds unusual that no footage exists and the belt was stolen but it also transpires that he was proven correct for the one fight that was looked into. Like Slap suggested -it would be best if someone examined his record.

Mandana - your uncle would likely know some of the other fighters mentioned on his record..?

 

The guy is a fraud but he probably did have some fights but lets get real, the level of these fights were probably laughable.

 

I believe he knows the fighters towards end of Paddy's career due to him being a friend and being at the fights.

 

Hello.This is my first post/answer on ESB.Just been following threads uptill now.But i can tell you that Paddy Monaghan is a total fake.He did become friends with Ali,Ali was at his house,but apart from that it is all a big con.His son is supposedly making a movie about Monaghans life "The rough diamond" but it will never happen.He has had a few fights down the local pub,but never 114-0 and he was never the champion of anything.He`s a big fu**ing liar and it\s all about to come crashing down around him these days.

Not only is it suspicous that there is not a single bit of video footage in existence, there is not even a single referrence in any newspaper in the world ! If this guy was really a 'World Champion' and fought "some of the toughest men in the World just to put food on the table" then you would expect some sort of documentation somewhere, but no not one newspaper article from anywhere in the world where he supposedly fought ! To put this in some sort of contemporary perspective, Bartley Gorman claimed the British bkb title during the years Paddy was supposed to be active in bkb, he is from the same country, fighting at the same time, and yet Bartley never fought outside of the UK, yet there are dozens of articles that have been written on the man, and he also appeared on the BBC news on television ! It's also strange how Paddy's claims have come out after Muhammad Ali is in no physical condition to be able to verify them !

Enough's enough, we are not all stupid enough to buy into your laughable claims Mr Monaghan ! You are a complete joke and a downright FRAUD !

If you look at Monaghan's supposed "record", you see that it bears all the hallmarks of being made up. He wins within the distance nearly all the time; when he wins on points he gets an immediate rematch which he wins by KO. The pattern is too consistent to be real. He's a complete fake. At least the other guys like Gorman and Mclean look like they can fight a little bit.

In Monaghan's book the one picture of him as a fighter has his head posted on someone else's body. It's hilarious actually.

His website is down now, so it looks like they've given up on making his film. There's a documentary in there though, on self delusion.

However I do recall a "Keith Richards" from Dartford on there ! In the 60's a more shall we say "famous" Keith Richards, was just getting together with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones to form the Rolling Stones. And where was the place Keith and Mick were said to have first met ??? Dartford Railway Station !!!

Those names you mentioned + Keith Richards of Dartford = Someone making a nice few quid for his retirement fund whilst taking the ****ing **** !!!
