Page had him. Just a few years before he wins by stoppage. For his age that was good condition for Greg Page. Had he worked that hard and kept his weight in check. The sky was the limit.
To his credit he gave what he had at this advanced age. I respect that effort but it is kinda sad because once its gone its gone.
    Anyway pretty good fight.

Did Ruddock ever beat a good fighter in their prime ?

I saw this fight a couple of days later, avoiding the result (but assuming it was a foregone conclusion), and then SKY gives it away be tell me pre fight to watch as it was a lot more competitive than expected.

On the bright side Julian Jackson was still in his punching pomp as Negron found out at the top of the bill!

Michael Dokes. But he never beat a great fighter IMO.

I think that Dokes was not near his best at the time of the fight....

Dokes did seem to get it all together to have that often underrated battle with Holyfield, but after that he was very ordinary.

His form coming into the Ruddock fight was particularly poor: Being decked by Washington and somehow taking eleven rounds to beat Drascola.

I think the Holyfield fight must have taken a fair bit out of Dokes, realistically. Considering Dokes's history of drugs and lay-offs as well.
Still a very good win by Ruddock, the way he got Dokes out of there.

Thing is, against Dokes Ruddock wasn't fighting very well until he caught Dokes with "the smash" (I think it was called).
