In the days after a lot of jump roping, my calves will seem fine throughout the day. Then when I go to jumprope or run again they really hurt. I cant feel the pain when I stretch, and it doesn't feel like a normal muscle pain where your muscles are just tight from working out. It feels totally fine until i start jumping on them again. It will usually last 3-5 days before it goes away to the point where i can continue working out. It hurts on the middle to lower part of my calves on the sides where the muscle seems to meet the bones. when I put pressure on it where the bone is it also hurts. Anyone have any ideas? I'm missing my roadwork! :?

I get bad pain in my right calf from sparring, it's been niggling away for 4 weeks, so I'm planning to rest it for a week and see if that sorts it out.

    Hi FM30

Sounds to me like posterior shin splints
RICE to area and you may have to stop skipping for a bit

Hmmm that does sound like it could be it. It does feel like shin splints just on the inside of my shins. I did RICE it before and I swear it went away, then it just ended up coming back. Is there anything I can do to help prevent them? Maybe make sure to get enough calcium, or maybe my legs will just adapt?
