Shocking, that poor guys knee could be ruined forever. His career could be over and he clearly tapped.

It wasn't quite as bad as the Babalu one, but 90 days is nothing for such a serious issue. Palhares says it's because of the Bustamante/Lindland affair years ago - ATT guys are taught to hold on and crank til the ref stops it... but that was still well late. I'd have gone 180days and fined him his win bonus.

Well imo it was miles worse than the Babalu one.

I mean Babalu held his for way longer, but being put to sleep is not nice but you will recover within a matter of minutes really. Where as potentially badly ruptured knee ligaments can ruin a career.

I suppose so... either way, they're both unacceptable, to say the least, no matter what Toquinho's (sp?) excuses are.

The interview I read he said that he felt the tap, but that after the Bustamante/Lindland fight years back, they're taught at ATT to not release until the ref stops it.

Even if that was his excuse, he was still cranking that HARD... the minute he felt the tap he could have eased up.

Drwal's knee is fine. There was no ligament damage at all. Anyway i think this is being blown way out of proportion. Palhares held that sub for a split second too long and everyones jumping on his jock. No one said much when Penn held that RNC on Pulver. Matter of fact Babalu's and Penn's way way more obvious.

Chokes are one thing, armbars, even straight knee bars. Heel hooks can **** you up real fast. Chokes being held too long sucks but there will be no lasting damage, people get choked out all the time and are fine, not many people survive getting a heel hook cranked and are a ok

Also as far as I am aware he has not been for an MRI yet, so he could well have ligament damage in which case if its bad that could be career damaging.

With regards to how long he held it, he held it for much longer than he should have. The ref having to jump on him before he lets it go is not what mma should be about otherwise there will be a lot of guys with huge issues.

Even if Drwal is fine then it doesnt change my stance, if he is fine infact he is one lucky mother****er. Peoples knees get popped with heel hooks regularly, even when they are not cranked like that after the guy tapping.

Agreed. It wasnt even that bad. It looked worse because they kept showing it in slow motion and Rogan counted to five when in real time it was less than a second  Anyway, its the fight game and sometimes you might get your jaw broken or a limb ripped off, so what. If you dont like it watch amateur boxing or a judo tournament. As for O Toquino...he's an actual borderline illiterate peasant. In the words of Kevin Ferguson 'where's my bread?':D

I dont want Palhares to get suspended. I just want him to fight Silva so that Anderson can beat him into a bloody pulp, take his manhood and **** his momma in front of him.

Then we wil never hear from him again.

No one said much about Penn vs. Pulver II? That was a huge dick move by Penn, but it's Penn, so it's expected. He's a ****.

And Palhares not only held it for some time (a second or two) but continued to CRANK it. I would have zero problem if he had simply maintained the position until the referee separated them, but to continue cranking the guys heel is very, very bad. And he knows that. Especially with heel hooks, those are very, very very dangerous.
