This article from April 19 on ESPN.com:

http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7831360/kelly-pavlik-continue-comeback-espn2-friday-night-fights-june-8

Chavez, who defends one of the titles that Pavlik used to have on June 16 against Andy Lee at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, is a serious possibility in the fall, Moretti said. It is also a fight -- which could be at middleweight, super middleweight or at a catch weight in between 160 and 168 pounds -- that Chavez manager Billy Keane told ESPN.com is of interest to them.
"Absolutely, that's a fight we'll look at," Moretti said. "It's definitely a big fight. The more Kelly fights and re-establishes himself, and the better Chavez gets, the more a fight like that can come together. That's a pretty big pay-per-view fight."

Don't forget about Margarito, who is also supposedly fighting Chavez in the fall.

I dont want him to fight Martinez in September anyway. There's a far more appealing late fall fight and it doesn't involve Chavez, Pavlik or Lee.

Martinez wants the testing, and Chavez doesnt want to get caught juicing.

let's see...Top Rank puts Pavlik in against Chavez and keeps the money...Top Rank lets one of their budding draws take a beating against Martinez AND doesn't keep all the money.hmmm.

I'm sure the call has already been made to the WBC and they're digging up an excuse for why Martinez doesn't get his long deserved shot at his own belt.

I think it's both. He's also a heavy drinker, so he doesnt want to get caught with Tequila and Tecate in his ****.

Chavez is one hell of a fighter if they have to put in a three way tag team of Pavlik/Martinez/Margarito to beat his axe.

WBC ordered defense. Martinez has no leverage to demand it. If he walks over that issue that means he doesn't want the fight and he was all talk.

Martinez ditched the belt because HBO wouldn't buy the rights to it. His choice.

Kind of overlooked in this I guess is they say the weight can be anywhere from 160 to 168.

Martinez don't fill seats. What is the Challenger's cut on a mandatory?
