I've watched this fight multiple times and I cant give Palomino one round until the 11th. I believe Gil Clancy and Chico Vejar said the same from ringside. At a minimum I had it 7 Azevedo and 3 even after 10. Palomino swept last 5. But no way could I only give Azevedo 4 rounds and score 6 even. He controlled the first 10 rounds and landed more shots and the harder shots. Every round until 11..... one judge scored it 10-5Palomino. Thoughts? - Sorry if this posted before I can't see it for some reason!

I just watched the first round and while not a whole lot happened, it was clearly Palomino's. You gave him zero of the first 10 rounds, so I have to take issue already.

EDIT: I now have it 2-0-1 Palomino after three. I can't help but think you're trolling. All Azevedo does is classic 'negative' fighting -- uses his feet to avoid a fight, flicks out an ineffectual jab that rarely lands, ties up whenever Carlos gets close. And Palomino works the body in the clinches and lands some clean hooks, while all I've seen is like one sneak right from Azevedo.

I'll probably keep watching -- Azevedo is a cutie (along the lines of a Vilomar Fernandez, but without as much offense or willingness to trade upon occasion) who makes it hard work for Carlos to get much done, but any idea of him winning any of the first three rounds ... I just don't see it.

Saintpat, you are a braver man than I for continuing to watch. I remember this fight watching it live back in the day and I just can't get myself to watch it again to score it. LOL! It just left an indelible mark of boredom in my memory.

I am being honest. I realize Azevedo is fighting a very boring Hopkins style fight. Hit and hold. Very slippery. But I believe Palomino lands 15 jabs the entire fight. Clancy and Vejar both didn't give palomino a round until the 11th. I feel the same. Maybe 3-4 even but I dont see him controlling the fight or landing more punches. While it is a very boring fight I can't score it for him. No trolling honestly.

i agree but I that was Azevedo fighing his fight. One two hold or a lead right then hold. But to say Palomino was more effective scoring in rounds I can't see it.

Please tell me which rounds you end up giving to Palomino. Every article written after the fight says Azevedo was leading after 10. First few could be even but 6-10 he wins even clearer.

    Through five my scoring was:

    1. Palomino

    2. Even

    3. Palomino

    4. Even

    5. Acevedo

I absolutely abhor even rounds, but through these (and I suspect the next five from what you're posting) so little happened in 2 and 4 that I couldn't clealry pick a winner. If I had a gun pointed at my head, I'd probably have given Palomino 2 and Azevedo 4, but really I don't thin either won those rounds.

The version I'm watching on YouTube is a local LA telecast, from all appearances (the 1970s ads are more entertaining than the action, haha) from what I gather. Can't hear the commentary well enough to pay it much attention, but I'm 99 percent sure it isn't Gil Clancy.

I do see spots where Palomino is working effectively in spurts on the inside and the commentary is ignoring this. In several spots he lands 2-3 good, solid body blows, which is enough to steal a round where nothing happens.

I'm sure you're sincere in your opinion - I apologize for the troll comment - but I can't see how (off the first 5 rounds that I've watched) you don't give a single round to Palomino in the first 10 rounds. That baffles me as he CLEARLY took the first.

If, as you say, Palomino swept 11-15, then he'd be a winner in my book even if Azevedo took 6-10 -- I'd have it 7-6-2 in favor of Carlos.

Yea The first round I can have even at best. They both land one right but Azevedo lands a few more jabs and a 1-2 to the body. But I dont think anybody clearly won that round lol. Round 2 the best punch is an Azevedo right hand. Round 3 its an Azevedo Flury to open then a nice right hand and constant jabs relative to palomino. I guess maybe some people would score just because palomino is pressing. But he isnt throwing anything and when he does he misses. They both hit the body in the clinches. But most rounds Azevedo lands more jabs, more right hands and controls the pace. And he also throws more. I know it is very close but I guess everybody scores differently. I think Azevedo could make anybody look bad lol

What I see is that Azevedo misses with the jab almost every time - either it's short, off-target or Palomino parries it with his right glove.

Palomino doesn't throw as many jabs, but he lands most of what he throws IMO. (In the first 5 rounds).

In close, Palomino RIPS his hooks or rights to the body. You can see the impact. In most of these rounds, they are the most effective punches landed. Azevedo when they are tied up does the thing where he taps/touches Palomino on the side a few times before they break, but I really don't consider those punches. They literally couldn't bust a grape.

Palomino also times a left uppercut counter severel times. Doesn't always land clean with full impact, but it's more effective than anything Azevedo does apart from like 2-3 sneaky right leads (his best punches) over the course of those 5 rounds.

We agree to disagree, but while Azevedo does a very crafty job of avoiding a fight, most of the fighting that is done in the first 5 rounds is done by Palomino.
