This is a big step up for Ward. But he'll beat Miranda by wide ud. He might even stop him. Miranda does have a puncher's chance so he'll be dangerous. Win or lose Miranda makes for good entertainment. This will propel Ward to being a star if he looks good.
Eastman, Abraham I and Green are all legit fighters. His jaw may be far from grantie, but its also not glass. He has been KO'd twice, but by two of the more P4P heavy hitters in this sport. His defense is the problem. He gets hit too easy. Hell, Pavlik pounded the crap out of him and Miranda still never gave up. If he had a glass jaw, that fight would have been over by Rd 4!
Ward probably wins this one wide, if only because Miranda hasn't been nearly aggressive enough in his recent fights. He seems content to just sit back and wait for openings, and he's not going to find many openings against a fundamentally sound fighter like Ward. I don't know of any concerns regarding Ward's chin either.
You've got to be shitting me that you think Ward has better speed than Dirrell. Watch clips of the two of them one right after the other. There's absolutely no comparison. Dirrell has elite speed, Ward is average in terms of handspeed. I also think that Dirrell has better power, but that one's up for debate.
The only ones to have beaten Pantera are the two best MW champs...there is no shame in that. I am probably in the minority here who think Ward is not ready to step up against Miranda..if he does he will be ruined. Ward's people would never take this fight...they may go after Taylor or another soft hitting SMW. Yes, Miranda can be beat but not by Ward or Dirrell....they are simply too green for him.
what leads you to belive that? ward is quicker and his punches are straighter then dirrells which means he will land first. he' the better overall fighter and he has one punch power when he steps into his punches whe was the last time you've seen dirrell put some one out with one punch? he could even get a real knock out against that midget he fought this weekend . i like dirrell and belive he's a good prospect that can develope into a wolrd champion but Ward is a level above and always will be IMO
Again, he had 3 fights at the elite level. One was a controversal loss. Pavlik was a good war up to Round 5 (he was up on all 3 cards going into Round 6). In Abraham II, Miranda was absolutely embarrasing. He was destroyed in last 2, but put in a good fight in the first of these 2.
Ward TKO Miranda IMO...Ward is very underrated and the man can fight...Miranda will have a puncher's chance of course but I just dont see him beating a techinally sound Ward...Ward is leagues ahead Miranda in the skills department so I dont think Miranda will be able to keep with the pace Ward is going to set.
The guy you are replying too is an idiot that thinks he is becoming famous on ESB for being the "glass jaw expert" as if that will give his life meaning. He is a joke and a fool. Don't bother with him.
Exciting prospect, this fight...you gave us a hint a week or so ago, Pantera...and now you say it's on the cards. This is just the kind of step-up fight Ward needs. I agree with the others that Ward should be able to take this, without too much trouble, if he keeps his wits about him - Miranda is just the right style for Ward to outbox fairly easily. I also agree that Miranda should not go further up than 168 lbs if he wants to have a chance of beating someone in the Top 10-15. Realistically, this would be the last chance saloon for Miranda...if he doesn't put Ward away, he's not far off top journeyman territory, if he decides to continue, that is... I'd be very happy for Ward if this fight happened.:good
I'll be rooting for Miranda because he's one of my fav's, I just don't think it's the right time to take this fight honestly. I think he's only fought twice since his loss to Abraham last June. I dunno, I guess I'd like to see him win 3-4 in a row before taking on another legit contender.
No. I'm just getting sick of that axehat popping into every thread, pasting his 'usual' reply and you never see him again. I'd be surprised if he shows up to see what I've posted to be quite honest with you. It would be the first time.
