Hooking combos up top by Cañizales. Left rips on the liver by Pradabsri. Jabs and straight or chopping rights by Cañizales. Pradabsri hunkering in close and replying with right uppercuts on the belt line. Now spearing rights up top from the visiting champion. Cañizales and Pradabsri both indicate they're hurt from headbutts, each blaming the other. The ref pauses the action to separate them. Pradabsri brought to his corner, still complaining and pawing at his brow. He's briefly checked out and cleared to go. Cañizales with a heavy pair of hooks into his chest, nearly doubling him over. Stiff jab in the mouth by Cañizales while turning Pradabsri. Cañizales jabbing Pradabsri up top and then hooking off the jab down low. Pradabsri tries for a body shot and Cañizales pushes him off with a six piece.

It just occurred to me that all three rounds so far have been slobberknockers... if this keeps up and we go even half the scheduled distance this could be a FOTY contender.

 

Round 4

Cañizales is caught during a distracted moment while backing up and I think hiking up his trunks by a grazing right hand. Pradabsri sees and seizes upon his chance and follows with another 1-2 and drops Cañizales! Flash knockdown. Cañizales is still coming forward, jabbing and cranking out hooks in multiples and dropping the hammer with rights as he backs Pradabsri against the ropes. Pradabsri sawing out with his jab and getting caught on the mitts. Cañizales jabs him into the ropes and grazes with a right hand. Overhand right and left hook combo by Cañizales, partially getting through Pradabsri's guard. Pradabsri resting on the ropes, then springs forth with an ambush right hand. Clinch. Cañizales stalks, jabbing in for a sortie, then dancing out slipping Pradabsri' counters.

Barbosa has it 38-37 Cañizales. Really the only possible correct scorecard at this point.

 

Damn it. Over the PA they're announcing the WBC open scoring - in English, no less - but the commentators are loudly yapping over it so I couldn't make the scores out.

 

Round 5

Cañizales coming out gangbusters, looking for his lickback, determined to score a knockdown of his own. HE GETS IT! LEFT HOOK ON THE JAW, FOLLOWED BY A PARALYZING RIGHT-LEFT ON THE FLANKS! PRADABSRI SAT IN THE CORNER, NO INTEREST IN GETTING UP!
