January 25th, somewhere in Thailand. Presumably (but not yet officially declared to be) for the WBC minimumweight title Pradabsri lifted off Moonsri a year ago. This would be his second defense. Their fight last time was entertaining and competitive, received well by fans but with little to no controversy about the result. Pradabsri has since defended the belt against Danai Ngiabphukhiaw, earlier this month. Moonsri fought on that undercard knocking out a 2-3 novice, his only action since losing his title. At stake for the challenger is, on top of retrieving the hardware and settling the issue of "best Thai at 105lbs that isn't Thammanoon 'Knockout CP Freshmart' Niyomtrong", the chance to prove that he's still top banana in his stable, with Kittithat Ungsrivongs aka Wanchana Menayothin impressing today in a victory over Amnat Ruenroeng.
As with both Pradabsri vs. Ngiabphukhiaw and Ungsrivongs vs. Ruenroeng, this will land on a Tuesday. It seems this is broadcaster True4U's preferred day of the week for boxing events. This contrasts with the days when Thailand 7 ruled the game, as they always staged theirs on Fridays.
Moonsri wins via close and possibly controversial decision. Looking forward to this one(minus the waking up at an ungodly hour part)
This has been pushed out a month - no longer taking place on January 25th (a week from today) but rather February 22nd (five weeks from today). True4U still has a boxing event for next Tuesday, but with a far less appealing main event of Jakrawut "Kongfah CP Freshmart" Majungoen taking on Lerdchai Chaiyawed. Both men are 26, but with vastly different records of 40-1-1 and 6-6 respectively.
There, any "doubt" regarding the man in Thailand (if not the world) in this division has been erased. Can the goofy Menayothin cult die now already? People trolling Mayweather about the whole record chase was a little funny when it was happening four years ago when he was only months removed from his final sanctioned pro bout. Now the dude has been retired so long he's already in the IBHOF. Clinging to all that garbage now still is as weird behavior as necro-bumping Ali Raymi threads.
