Papa Trinidad says no Pavlik fight at 160, Pavlik should come to 170

If he can't make 160 any chance of a comeback is over and he should just retire again.

 

i very much doubt this fight happens at all!

 

As mentioned many times, it's pure laziness on Tito's part. He can easily make 160.

 

He doesn't want to work anymore. He is riding the wave of his name and collecting checks. Tito isn't doing anything to further his legacy in boxing or in PR. He wants back in the spotlight b/c of Cotto. Bottom line.

 

i disagree , after watching a interview with Tito trinidad before the roy jones fight , he feels he has missed the boxing that he just had to come back , you can understand this how many fighters miss the taste of been in there its quite common for a fighter to come out of retirement as they feel they can still perform to there best , i belive it was a personal choice not becuase of a cotto jealousy

 

Tito isnt going anywhere at 170 thats for sure he should stay retired he is done and risks getting hurt every time out, lucky for him his last fight was against someone who is also shot and should retire: Roy Jones

 

Tito's natural weight was 147 for many years, he should have no problem making 160, although Pavlik could meet him at 166.

 

I understand your view, but why would a man who missed boxing so much come back so out of shape? After the first Jones knock down I knew it was over. The second knockdown was off a jab.. Come on, if you are going to get in the ring, be prepared. If he had trained like he used to, he would have no problem making 160 to fight Pav. You have to admit Tito was pudgy. As far as the Cotto thing goes, I think it is true. Tito was a superstar on the island and the pride of the people. Cotto is well on the way to overthrow that. He's a better fighter, heavier puncher, and better record. Its either jealousy or he's a gluton for unnecessary punishment

 

but been at the 170 weight was totally new to tito i can understand how he was podgey, but i wasnt expecting a fighter how has spend the best part of his career at 147 welter weight to then be totally trimmed out at light heavy, and tito will always be held in high regard for Puerto Rico fans he gave them a champion they can be proud of! cotto is a great champion to so i can see how he can get jealous missing the probs of been number 1 boxer, you gotta belive that tito is a "true warrior" in boxing and he really felt he could do it i belive he just missed the sport to much and when he seen the roy jones challenge felt to good to miss ,

actully did roy jones challenge tito or did tito challenge roy or did don king just set it all up for them?

 

I don't know. Arum made the trip down and came back and said it was possible, there was interest. They knew it would have to be at 160. I'd need a more solid source. Some very big $ at stake. Just watched the Jones fight today. No place for Tito at 170. He really doesn't want to meet Pavlk at that weight. I'd need a better source before I called this one off, but Arum did say that Duddy was the more likely when he announced the talks with Tito.

Maybe not a bad money move for Arum to get Duddy nervous about not getting his title shot?

 

I think King set it all up. A way to get them both back in the spotlight. The difference between tito and RJJ is the fact that RJJ repaid his dues to get to the big PPV. He fought in obscure places fighting no names to get back into things. Tito went from PPV to PPV without any kind of work or tuning at the weight.

 

Duddy will get knocked out.

 

I am a big Pavlik fan, but I also like tito ... and for Tito's sake I really hope he does not take this fight. I do not want to see him die in his last career fight. Pavlik Should def fight Duddy with AA on the undercard and then beat AA in Germany :good

 

another difference was that tito was retired, he was for 3 years and roy jones wasnt , the angle that don king used was the return of tito trinidad that sparked the intrest, say if this fight happend after the tarver loss and the winky loss for felix then this on ppv would be crazy! but the tito comeback was how he was able to bring this back to ppv
