Why do fighters accept these when awarded them? Or even fight with such a mickey mouse title on the line? Surely they dont think they are proper prestigeous recognised belts??? :huh

every fighter knows they aren't proper prestigeous recognised belts but boxing at its heart is build on a stepping stone structure and these belts mean they get more media exposure and better paydays(until this changes we are stuck with these worthless belts).most fighters want to get the ring belt but as eddie chambers said these belts are only worthless after you get them.

apart from the ring they are all paper belts

“You have to pay so much money in sanctioning fees,” said Mosley, shaking his head.

“Things have changed now,” agreed Tszyu. “Before, you would hold your belt for a long time, now there are so many organisations and they all want a % of money from you.”

“When you win your first world title, it means so much,” said Mosley, who owns four in total himself, with an IBF world title at lightweight, a WBC welterweight world title and WBC-WBA world titles at junior middleweight.

Mosley looked closely at Tszyu’s undisputed world champion belt awarded to him by The Ring magazine after he beat Judah. Sugar Shane has his own version at junior middleweight, after beating Oscar De La Hoya for a second time in September 2003.

Both Mosley and Tszyu agreed that The Ring undisputed world champion belt was very special to them. “It is something that I will always cherish,” said Tszyu.

I refer to them as British World Title's or Supermarket championship belts.......America has taken back the WBO belts from us which we owned in the 90's & told us to make do with the WBU & IBO..........aka Ricky Hatton until he beat Tszya for the IBF.

Truth. Eventually there will be 100 weight classes and 20 sanctioning bodies.

How many have owned up to it without feeling embarrased:lol: truth be known they've never known they've won these joke title's until some IBO/WBU rep jumped into the ring & superglued it around there waists just before they were handed the WBC or ring belt:lol:

I don't think the IBO, WBU,WBF or IBC charge sanctioning fees, neither does the Ring belt. In my opinion, HBO should create its own title in association with the Ring magazine and get rid of all the other titles.

Oh yes they do, every belt organization minus the ring, which really isn't a belt org, charges a sanctioning fee their fees tend to be less though because they aren't as prestigous and their champions usually make less(the exception of course being Wladimir Klitschko.)

The creation of a TV title won't do anything good for the sport because they will be accused of ad******g rankings and stripping champions to boost ratings of a particular card. For example lets say Showtime created a Showtime Belt and gave it to Chad Dawson after his win over Adamek, saying that he was the best Light Heavyweight in the world, how would they handle Dawson jumping ship to HBO? They would strip him, but isn't he still the best LH in the world? it wouldn't work.

What needs to happen is that the Ring Title must be cultivated by the Media outlets as the real title, Boxrec will have to begin listing it for fights.

Lennox Lewis had the IBO Strap over his shoulder in some of his pics with his belts...surely he didn't pay this mickey mouse organisation a sanctioning fee? He certainly at the time didn't need them or their recognition did he?

Doesn't James Toney currently have some IBO Strap as well?

The Real Deal currently holds the WBF & Lights Out Toney holds the IBA.

    IBA-WBF unification anyone?
