That's reasonable. No need to hold the weight for club shows, but if they enter you for stuff then it makes sense to drop a bit.
lol i cant even shave proper and im 18.when did you get your man strength.is it actually true that u get stronger in your mid twenties.ye i hav noticed most middles are around the 6ft mark
Okay. Fight at whatever weight you feel comfortable. Optimally you would want to fight at a weight you carry in your best shape, but at the top end of it. Now what is your best shape? They do have a valid arguement in suggesting sprints over running if I read you correctly. Boxing is a sport that requires explosive outbursts and our body and mind are wired to remember and respond to that memory. This is basically why sprints and workouts (2-3 min. round) tailored for short bursts are often recommended. This goes for lifting weights for boxing too. Instead of doing X many of this, then X many of that to necessary fail...you instead try to lift this X for say a 20-30 second burst, go immediately into another X exercise for 20-30 seconds, then do that in increments of up to 3 mins...then rest. One minute. Then repeat with other exercises, or lifts. the whole point is to train your body, yes to be strong and fast, but to also be explosive. That is best done by having it trained to react. That is gained by memory, in both your muscles and your mind. Am I making any sense? edit.. nevermind, i read you wrong...stick to the sprints. jogging is okay too, for endurance, but not in the same way as your sprints.
yes you are making sense.ye ur reading me correctly just they was suggesting long runs and bodyweight exercies rather than weights and strengths.im guessing you have a good knowledge of sports science etc
just a boxer, like you. Nothing wrong with weights, at all. Unless we are not using them properly. Lifting to fail is not necessarily good for us. Lifting to strengthen for explosiveness is. There is a reason when ur at the gym, your rope skips and pad work and other workouts are usually timed. It is all about creating that memory and teaching our body to respond to those 2-3 min intervals. Then rest. Then go again.
ye but my grandad use to train me til he become to outta shape and is a bit disrespectful and also i have to live with my dad and he will probably take it personally
I think there is probably merit to both what you think, and what they think. I would try to be honest with them, and look for some kind of a middle ground. I could likely throw a program together for you, that combines all of the components, one day sprints, one day jogging, a mix of workout of things like burpies and push ups and such, combined with weight lifting properly...and you could likely take it to them and find a compromise. I'm actually surprised this site doesn't have a better training section, considering it's size. And speaking of which, I need to haul ass and go train myself, got a fight this weekend. I'll check in later and see what's up.
If ya want, send me a PM with what sorta weights (home gym or free w.) you have and equipment and so... Then I'll try to put together a decent weekly routine, with some of each aspect of what you do and likely what they have in mind. If you really feel it is impeding you, it might make it easier if you show you are willing to consider what they are saying, plus incorporate the things you feel are important also. I don't know your dad or gramps or coaches or can anticipate how they will react, but it is a start. Why not try to meet them 1/2 way...and I honestly feel a mix of both ideals could likely benefit you. Also, are you taking any supplements or anything? PM me if ya wish.
WHU, I don't have enough posts here to PM you. I got yours though, so give me a day or so 2 and I will run up my post count and put together a routine for you. And yea, that is enough info...basically just wanted to know what kind of weights. Also if you can tell me what times of the day are best for your workouts. Could it be broken into mornings and nights, to fit with your Boxing Club workouts? talk soon.
