I'm seeing ridiculous posts from delusional Tua fanboys/cynical folk trying to discredit the very talented Baby Joesph Parker. Already Parker is showing things that we didn't see from Tua on the way up, or even his prime. Parker has excellent power himself, better punch variety, better jab, more range, quicker handspeed. He will prove himself to be much better than the extremely overrated Tua when all is said and done. Mark my words. Parker will become the first Polynesian heavyweight champ.:good

Parker hasn't even reached his ceiling yet, a seasoned Tua probably could have beaten the green/still developing Parker that we see now, but he loses badly to beast that will come in the future. Parker will be a major player is the post-Klitschko HW division. None of that has anything to do with this thread though.

    I disagree

The Tua that fought Ibeabuchi would KO anything that Parker might become ha ha

I think Tua won 3 rounds in that fight on my card. But who knows if Parker would be able to deal with the pace that fight was fought at or the power Tua brings. Only time will tell what he really is.

Tua was so limited. There's a reason he lost every major fight of his career, and had rally to beat guys like Maskaev, Izon, and Oquendo. In a sane world he would be 0-2 against Rahman instead of 1-0-1. Tua was a powerful puncher with a good left hook but overall he was extremely mediocre.

Maybe but he was made of stone and hit like a truck

That'd be enough against a guy like Parker

Parker would unload and Tua would still be there

Then Tua turns it on and Parker would be finished

I think he has the right stance, height, speed and technique to give most top heavyweights trouble.

The speed he throws those body shots would give lots of good fighters hell.

I dunno how good his chin is so we'll see when he steps up in class.

He's already better than David Price imo.

We'll see when he steps up as it's easy for them to look good against Sprott level calibre of opponents.

Parker is a kid who isn't even close to reaching his full potential, very silly logic you're using here. If only it were that easy for Tua, he would have so many losses, and struggles and meager competition!

Parker is starting to box more and more and brawl less and less, I think in a couple of years time he'll be better than any version of David Tua. As I said, he's already showing things that Tua wasn't capable of. If Parker brawled with Tua he might get KO'd sure, same could be said with almost heavyweight ever..... But he'd box him at range, take his left hook away and give him a boxing lesson no doubt.

He's already beaten guys like that. Minto, and Sherman Williams are better than Sprott is at this point, certainly more durable.

I just didn't see anything that great about Parker so far

But you could very well be right

    Time will tell I suppose

I'm somewhere in between here - I think Parker has more potential as an overall fighter, but right now I think Tua in his prime would PROBABLY KO Parker.

Joe is still showing defensive weaknesses and while he is has definitely grown since Nascimento, he got shaken a bit by him and didn't go untouched in his last fight (though not rocked either).... if he let that kind of thing through against someone like a prime Tua then the fight, like MANY other top heavyweights I wouldn't say he'd be in safe ground. No one knocked out Tua, I love Parker's work at the moment but I don't think he'd do it - at least. I think Tua never got enough credit for how good he was on his feet and how good his headwork was, I reckon a lot of his left hook magic was thanks to a combination of how he could move - not just a random haymaker.

The thing here is Parker is improving technically, strength wise and becoming more experienced (ring wise?) each time he fights and he's only just started. That this comparison was made at this stage says a lot - so long as he doesn't get as hooked on KFC as Tua then I think he will go further.

You're a knob. Tua had limitations but he also never had the opportunities at the same time and management issues spoilt his prime. Tua beat 7 world champs and his only title fight was against lennox Lewis arguably the best of all time.

Joseph Parker could be a champ I reckon he probably should be to be fair but Tua should have been one as well. Probably the best fighter to never win a title in atleast the last 25 years

We don't know his chin yet, but at least PArker has never been knoccked out in one round at the amateurs, unlike Tua
